It's a big ass monitor. Most people aren't going to be counting pixels when they're immersed in their games.
Yea the 5k2k variant is going to look better. It's great for screen shots to post online. But the trade off isn't worth it for people who enjoy higher frames in their games.

People don't game at 720p because 1080p monitors and tvs became the standard for a while there. Funny how you chose that resolution though to make your point when overwhelmingly the average on person on steam still games at 1080p. And yes, obviously higher resolutions are going to look better, they also come with performance trade offs. Especially in this modern era where AAA games are optimized to shit. DLSS helps, but it's a band-aid at best.
What about this monitor is outdated? The only argument you can make would be that it's not tandem or a newer gen of oled. A problem that currently applies to ALL Ultrawide oleds. Outside from that what? 1440p? It's still a popular resolution. Ultrawide? Still used by many people. 240hz at this resolution is the best currently offered.. 45 inch size screen? Thats a CHOICE to trade a bigger screen for less clarity. The same choice people will have when more 5k2k monitors launch at smaller sizes. That won't make any 45 variant of that monitor outdated (except for the early model). It'll just be another offering if they continue to sell new 5k2k monitors at 45".
