I picked this up last weekend for $10. For $3.33 a piece this is an excellent deal. I question those who comment on the quality. I bet their work in general is sloppy and unkempt.

... And unable to determine when it's appropriate to use these vs. a regular Allen wrench.

I've been turning wrenches on cars for 25 years and you would be crazy to buy these to use daily. But I bought 3 sets and they are great, one for SXS, one for cycle, and one for sled tool kit. This is a no brainer people.

I might find myself using them daily. Only reason I haven't pulled the trigger is because I have so many drivers for these task. My fear is they'll not be long enough or have the precision that I'm use to.
I work on a lot of small machines.

I found Kobalt crap to be really poor quality, like easily bendable pot metal stuff they slap their name on. Had some screwdrivers and rather than strip a screw the drivers got stripped.

Husky has a version of these in my toolbox for years now, not stripped or anything. Highly recommend. Wasn't crazy expensive either.

I'm all for cheap shit, but I'd bet the Harbor Freight version is likely better.

I do love my harbor freight tools lol. My brother in law makes fun of me for buying cheap tools (he's a surgeon that makes an ass ton of money and always buys the best of the best) but I can honestly say I've never had a harbor freight tool crap out on me even after having them for YEARS

I bought these a couple years back as a solution to piles of loose allen keys. Virtually every time I go to use it the handle gets in the way and makes the whole thing useless. It's on my list of tools to replace and I'm back to digging through piles of allen keys until I do.

Try pulling the bolt out, and then using the tool individually. You can even take a second one out to use it in a little hole the bolt goes through to give you torque. When you're done you put the tools in the bolt back in. Works great and can actually get in tighter soots than a normal hex head wrench.
