I've had it for a few months and really can't recommend it enough. I did a ton of FDM 3D printing from about 2013 to 2020, then focused on resin printing until buying this printer. So I was behind the times, but I've had perfect print quality from this unit with default settings, and the best feature is that you can load multiple spools of the same material, and when one runs out it will automatically switch to the next spool and keep printing. You just have to have them entered as the same color and material
I think this is about what I paid less than a year ago for the non-pro that can't do color switching. It's hard to justify buying another printer so soon, but if I didn't have one, I'd get this for sure.

4 colors max but is possibly only printer you can load TPU and PLA, PETG etc. at same time. Only note is that the spool system is spring loaded, so I don't think you can easily run a custom dry box
They have a print file to make each spool its own dry box

I ordered this last time and it's been good! I have a question for the other users. When I download a 3mf file and open it in orca, it always gives me errors, I'm assuming because the file is made for a bambu. The main one I get is about relational positioning or something like that(g92 iirc). I tried opening it in the Bambu slicer and exporting it and a generic 3mf but still get the same issues. Is there a good process to get Bambu files to work on this?
on the top left where it says printer, you just have to hit the dropdown and change the printer to the ad5x and the error goes away. that drove me crazy for a bit too, kind of weird that you have to do that every time, maybe there is some setting that automates it but it's not the end of the world.

If i was not getting tool changer i would have jumped on this. There's no need to pursue Bambu A1 or A1 mini when this printer is available at this price.
Do not just look at this basic printer, this can be a whole project if you want it to be. Yes this will do basic A1 and A1 mini level stuff out of the box, few months down the line you can build its enclosure, try engineering grade materials, build your own filter, etc etc.
If you're on the verge, I would advise you to go for it. Specially if you have kids, It changes whole mindset from "what can i get to solve this problem" to "What can i make/design to solve this problem"

A 3mf file itself can be an entire print project, including printer information, bed layout, layer thickness, all shapes, etc.Prusaslicer gives the option when importing a 3mf project file to open the whole project, or just import the shape(s).

Add some filament or whatever else sitting in your cart, bring subtotal to 320 and use AEUS64.
I recommend Jayo and Kingroon https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32...13667.html
Edit: Havent used this dryer, but not bad for 37 https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32...53700.html

I've read that this printer's app must be side-loaded rather than downloaded from the Play Store. Is that app absolutely necessary (even for setup), or can everything be done from a PC over USB or network?

App not needed. Based on reviews I saw, you can use vanilla orca slicer, but it do not give you network connectivity(you will need usb to move prints) or you can use their skinned orca it will let you transfer prints and control your printer online.

Flashforge's website says that the warranty only applies if their machines are purchased from "authorized resellers". Can anyone confirm if this aliexpress seller is an authorized reseller?

They have files for dry boxes you can print out, I did it for both of my AD5Xs. They are great, unlike my Anycubic S1s, which suck for a ton of reasons.
I'm trying to decide which printer to get for a family member that's been asking for a 3d printer for their birthday. They want a multicolor corexy printer. I'm debating between the A5DX or the anycubic S1 combo. The family member isn't the most technical person though, so which of these two would be a better fit? (ie, something thatwill need less fiddling or fixing to get it to work.) I know many people say get a bambu, but I'm looking for something less expensive.
