It's not an end table. It's made to tuck next to someone sitting on the couch like you described. It's only supposed to go over the seat cushion, not the arm

I get that but for a little more you can get something that does both and makes it a little more flexable Measure from you knees to the floor that's about 21 to 22 tight fit. Will work though

Bought a similar one at Aldi without the useless charging station for $14. Was very useful for elderly to be able to eat at the sofa. It was narrow enough to go between their legs.
