These companies just want to inflate the price just to show premium without actually having any brand value or durability

I have a pair of the previous version, Catamount 2. It was a terrible disappointment. With Brooks it's doubtful anything fundamental changed from version 2 to version 3. The midsole in the Catamount 2, as with most mid tier Brooks models, was devoid of any bounce. The shoe also runs small. Even with a super thin sock there was fitment issues with my usual running shoe size. The upper also used a porous mesh panel over the entire forefoot. On dry sandy trails I ended up with loads of sand inside the toebox. Like, how dumb are the designers at Brooks? Anything, and mean literally anything, is better than a Catamount and for running in general I would advise against Brooks shoes. Brooks is fine for ath-leisure, dog walks, a day at a theme park. and casual use but they're not a serious option for running use cases.

After reading about the Tarahumara Indians. I have a hard time paying big bucks for running shoes.

I have to disagree. I had a pro deal with Salomon for over 12 years (used to work for REI) and the quality of Brooks is a bit higher than Salomon. I trail run in CO (less soil and more rock) and wear Brooks. Their soles last far longer than Salomon and have nuances like strapping for ped monitors and lace control, better textured laces to prevent untying, and have better toe boxes. I've since switched. Now, that said $100 is far too much for any shoe on sale... TR shoes can be found for ~$70.

Fair enough. Outsoles are a strong suit for Brooks. I eventually moved on to The Endorphin Rift, a now discontinued Saucony trail shoe that was introduced in 2023. It has a thick PEBA midsole paired with a extremely durable upper and outsole. But I would do better in something with a carbon plate on longer runs.
