Our cats love cardboard scratching pads, but we don't have anything vertical for them to use. This may just fit the bill!

These vertical/leaning posts are HORRIBLE. Even the lightest scratching causes it to (usually) fall over on the cat. Then guess who is no longer interested in using it?
Maybe leave it horizontal on the floor. If anything.
