Soooo I have 2 p1s and they both have thousands of hours of prints time and here is what I think of the upgrades:

5-inch touchscreen - I honestly could care less, the amount I use the screen is near 0, everything is controlled via wifi and the slicer.

Improved Lighting - I did end up adding better lighting to both mine but honestly this was strictly because I wanted to be able to spin around in my chair and see my prints from across the room, at no point was this a "need".

Improved Camera - again neat but I never used the camera other than to occasionally check in on my print when I was away from the house and the 2fps I was getting with the p1s was plenty to do that with.

Cooling - again awesome but I never had any problems with cooling and I printed PLA all the time with the lid on, in fact I never take the lid off and I have had 0 problems.

Guide Rods - I like the steel guide rods but the 2 seconds it took to clean the carbon rods every 100 or so hours wasnt a big deal.

Filament Handling - I printed a side mounted holder for my p1s, it is way better, 10/10 for understanding the rear spool was a terrible idea.

AI Failure detection system - I mean I'm sure its cool and all but the amount of "failures" i have had with my p1s is near 0 and most of the time it was my fault because I forgot to change what plate I was using in the settings or some other goofy thing.

New extruder - Folks this is where the money shot is, they took all the bells and whistles of the A1 series and slapped it on the refresh, the auto flow calibration on my A1 mini is chefs freaking kiss for getting insanely nice prints the clog/grinding detection is nice but honest to god I 've never had either on any of my bambu machines.

All in all you can upgrade your p1s to do damn near everything the p2s does for near nothing but I have to say unless you can get a sexy deal (like this slick deal) on a current p1s I would grab a p2s soley for the auto flow calibration, I love it on my A1 mini.
Ask me literally anything if you have any questions about the p1s or A1 mini for that matter I have literally thousands of hours on my machines.

No one answered you, but this is a super important question. Disclaimer: I'm not a scientist and I haven't done any measurements, comparisons, or anything of the sort. I'm just a guy who's been printing for a couple of years. Don't blame me if you grow a 3rd arm.

You will have VOCs (volatile organic compounds, or "bad fumes") with every printer just from the nature of heated, broken down materials to print with. In general PLA and PETG are safe enough for you to be in the same room as the printer. The fumes I smell are little to none from my P1S, although mine is enclosed and I have HEPA filters on the vent fan in the back. I also have the Bento Box mod if I'm printing other materials besides PLA, PETG, or TPU.

The "S" in ABS and ASA is styrene. If you have ever thrown a styrofoam cup into a camp fire, you know how terrible those fumes are. You should definitely not print ABS or ASA in an occupied room without some serious air treatment. People who print stuff like this have a whole another vented enclosure around the printer to contain the VOCs. It's going to be much safer to do this in a shed or a vented garage. Same with resin. You should do this in a shed or vented garage, as well as using nitrile gloves and masks to handle it after the print.

Should you protect yourself even with PLA and PETG? Sure, but microplastics have permeated every aspects of our lives, and you have to do the calculus to determine what is an acceptable risk to you. I've accepted to have my PLA and PETG prints going in the same room as me. The carbon filled nylon prints I've done used the Bento Box mod and I didn't smell any fumes. I will not print ABS or ASA unless my printer is in a garage or shed.

Be careful as the P1S combo comes with the 1st gen AMS and not the newer AMS 2 Pro.

$400 is really a good price for P1S. I'm not sure if I should jump on it (1st 3D printer). Any reason to get the Combo if I don't need the multi color print?
get the combo because you'll just end up doing what every one of us who said "I don't need the multicolor" did and buy an AMS as soon as you could afford it and for much more money than just getting the combo.

Only interested in the P2S and H2S and of course they're both missing. The H2D combo is kind of tempting though.
Possible additional BF deals coming on the newer models?

No talk about the X1C + AMS2 Pro at $1100 (after @20 coupon). Thoughts on value here?

The P2S is basically the same printer with an upgraded nozzle design, better airflow management, and a slightly lower resolution screen, but only $870 (when converted from Euros).

It's widely available in Canada, Europe, Australia, and Asia, but "logistics issues" have prevented it from reaching US warehouses. Whatever you interpret that as.

I just bought a P1S for 449 yesterday. FML. Guess I'm gonna beg for a credit from support.
EDIT: I was able to cancel via support chat. I will be buying the one with the AMS combo next week!

I have been looking into getting a 3D printer .. but have concerns about exposure to toxic chem fumes and volatile micro plastics - even if an enclosure. Are these valid concerns? Do we have any studies talking about long term exposure? This is a fairly new tech and we would only know 15yrs in the future that it makes a 3rd ear grow on your forehead.
It's a valid concern. I actually moved all my printers to my garage just to be sure. You can run air filters and exhaust systems to mitigate exposure. My guess is if the printer isn't in a room you spend all day in your exposure levels aren't that bad.

That's a good call out. Nothing on the consumer side of things compares to Bambu's ability to just work. Cheaper options cost more in the end due to time and energy to keep it working.
1000% this.
I'm a tech-geek. I can fix, mod, and tweak with the best of them. But the amount of time I've spend on my AD5X trying to eliminate the poop, produce a level bed, understand different slicing programs, emulate a 'set-it-and-forget-it' remote printing and monitoring app- has been exhausting; and almost takes the fun out of it. I've considered a Bambu for years but wanted a more open ecosystem. Or at least I thought I did. Don't regret my AD5X purchase, but wish it had a Simple or Advanced toggle.

As a someone who's used an ender 3 the past few years, I'm due for an upgrade. While it was fun to tinker, I think having a workhorse would be ideal at this point.

What accessories would you recommend getting with the printer?
Also, is the AMS2 worth the $125 extra over AMS? Would I need to buy anything else (power adapter, buffer) if I go down the non-combo P1S + AMS2 route?
after watching a lot of reviews on AMS vs AMS2 I am also convinced to go with that route. However not sure what sort of a deal they are going to give on the AMS2 when the sale comes live. Here is the accessories required for AMS2 upgrade : https://us.store.bambulab.com/pro...pgrade-kit

Based on the website, the AMS2 will be $279 when the sale goes live. I don't see any mention of discount on the upgrade kit. So we would be looking at around $743 ($399 P1S, $279 AMS2, $65 upgrade kit) all in, which is not much of a deal compared to the current price for the P1S+AMS2 combo ($749 after coupon). Would be hard to justify almost $200 difference compared to the AMS in this case.

I thought people were saying p2s has a bad vent design.
