Bambu Lab's sale stands out as a strong entry point for easy, reliable printing, especially the P1S at $399 and the A1 or A1 Mini for beginners. The ecosystem, app printing, and MakerWorld integration make setup and model access feel simple, and the printers are praised for skipping bed leveling and tuning while delivering consistent first layers. The P1S gets extra credit for enclosure support and dependable long runs, while the A1 series is favored for easier nozzle changes and flow calibration. Main caveats are AMS pricing and packaging, since the combo often includes the first generation unit, some accessories ship separately, and multicolor printing adds waste and time.

So I need to order the gear assembly too? I was reading some reviews that said the new stock of the P1S already had this installed...

What counts as an accessory? I added the smooth plate and the AMS hub and still got free shipping

Soooo I have 2 p1s and they both have thousands of hours of prints time and here is what I think of the upgrades:5-inch touchscreen - I honestly could care less, the amount I use the screen is near 0, everything is controlled via wifi and the slicer.Improved Lighting - I did end up adding better lighting to both mine but honestly this was strictly because I wanted to be able to spin around in my chair and see my prints from across the room, at no point was this a "need".Improved Camera - again neat but I never used the camera other than to occasionally check in on my print when I was away from the house and the 2fps I was getting with the p1s was plenty to do that with.Cooling - again awesome but I never had any problems with cooling and I printed PLA all the time with the lid on, in fact I never take the lid off and I have had 0 problems.Guide Rods - I like the steel guide rods but the 2 seconds it took to clean the carbon rods every 100 or so hours wasnt a big deal.Filament Handling - I printed a side mounted holder for my p1s, it is way better, 10/10 for understanding the rear spool was a terrible idea.AI Failure detection system - I mean I'm sure its cool and all but the amount of "failures" i have had with my p1s is near 0 and most of the time it was my fault because I forgot to change what plate I was using in the settings or some other goofy thing.New extruder - Folks this is where the money shot is, they took all the bells and whistles of the A1 series and slapped it on the refresh, the auto flow calibration on my A1 mini is chefs freaking kiss for getting insanely nice prints the clog/grinding detection is nice but honest to god I 've never had either on any of my bambu machines. All in all you can upgrade your p1s to do damn near everything the p2s does for near nothing but I have to say unless you can get a sexy deal (like this slick deal) on a current p1s I would grab a p2s soley for the auto flow calibration, I love it on my A1 mini.Ask me literally anything if you have any questions about the p1s or A1 mini for that matter I have literally thousands of hours on my machines.
Great review. If money wasn't an issue, is the P1S w/AMS worth it over the A1 Combo?Looking at getting my child a 3d printer and would much rather to spend the extra bucks to get an upgraded one if he really gets into it I like the idea of being able to have multiple colors at once. Also seems like the p1s is a little bit more compact and requires less space

Pulled the trigger along with almost 20 filaments at $1000 with tax, from Bambu lab (p1s+ams2+hub). Hopefully won't regret this after a p2s sale.

I'm in the same boat. I bought all the nozzles, cheap accessories, and a bunch of filiments to about $1k. I hope I can get the hang of it all without too much headache or spaghetti, lol.

Can't decide between the A1 and A1 mini. Not sure if I would ever need bigger bed size of A1 and like A1 mini compactness more, was mostly just planning on printing small mounts for temperature sensors and things like that for around the house.

for me personally it was the p1s all day but the form factor was a big thing for me and my space. The A series is the better of the tool heads and I think the P series is the better of the printers (mechanically a coreXY is better than a "bed slinger") if I had it to do all over again I would 100% still get the p1s over an A1 even know I love and use my A1 mini more than my P1S printers.

Everyone says that including me. However like most people I wished that I got the A1 instead of the Mini. The build plate size makes a difference on what you can print.I would suggest that if you have the extra money that you go with the A1 instead of the mini. You won't regret it

The P1S AMS 2 Pro Combo (with Hub) is listed today for $619. The P2S is just vaporware in the USA right now. The upcoming tool changer models are not time tested yet. Nobody knows if any of them will be reliable. Whatever model printer you decide to get, the AMS 2 Pro is the one to get with currently available Bambu printers. I don't do much multi color printing. I still like having the AMS 2 Pro because there is always four spools of dry filament ready to go. Just pick a color and the printer just loads it. Bambu PETG-HF prints like a dream on my A1, and my H2S. This filament makes my Creality K1 Max print a little better. Still the Bambu printers have better software and almost always print the part right the first time. The K1 Max will waste your time and your filament.
I asked ai and the average cost of a 4 spool dryer is ~$150. The AMS 2 PRO is a +$200 combo over the $400 P1S by itself. So, if anyone was thinking about getting a dryer anyway, then it's a no brainer. The used prices on ebay for this combo are the same or higher than $600 + shipping. I feel sorry for anyone who bought from ebay in the last month.

Ai commentary / highlights:
  • SUNLU FilaDryer S4 (4‑Spool): Good value for a dedicated 4-spool unit.
  • Creality Space Pi X4 Filament Dryer (4‑Spool): Premium features (dual independent heating chambers) for more advanced/mixed-material use.
  • SUNLU Filament Dryer Box S4 (4‑Spool alt listing): Same model as the first but a different listing/deal — useful if pricing varies.
  • EIBOS Filament Dryer Series X (multi‑spool): Slightly different brand, good alternative if you want variation.
  • Generic 4‑Spool 350 W Filament Dryer Box (brand unspecified): Even more budget; may lack premium finishing/features.
  • SUNLU S4 Filament Dryer Box (discount listing): A value-deal listing of the S4; good if you find it discounted.
  • Creality Space Pi X4 Filament Dryer Box (alt listing): Alternate listing of the premium 4-spool unit — useful to compare pricing.
  • Sovol SH04 Filament Dryer Box (4‑Spool): Mid-budget 4-spool option from a less-well-known brand which might strike good value.

That's so lame! We're already spending $600+ and they're nitpicking over $7 on upsell products? 😡 I canceled my upsell add ons. I'll just go with 3rd party later if I actually need them. Many of the items are things I probably won't need for 1-2 years anyway. And since Bambu Lab is so popular, there are tons of third party stuff on Amazon and AliExpress.

I added $150 worth of filaments, used $20 off coupon and the shipping came as free
