The Costco deal is $55 more but includes an extra controller so basically the same when it comes to overall deal.

Unsure why this is getting downvoted as it matches the pricing frorm yesterday's +124 Frontpage deal. It only takes an extra minute or two to sign up for a free IGN account.

edit: now that the NBA2K26 game is included for free, I'd rank this "IGN" deal better than the Costco deal.

That's an interesting way of viewing it but seems to leave out a key consideration... Technology prices generally come down over time. Without a doubt, most of the components needed to build a PS5 are cheaper today than they were in 2020

At launch the 825gb discless version was $399 in 2020. All in all taking into consideration inflation itself, it would be ~$470 today so this is a fairly decent deal. Although I would suggest ponying up the additional cost to get the larger one terabyte version with a disk drive.

Just got it. $375 is a solid deal, considering the crazy price increases we've seen. I'll support this, but I'd never support purchasing at the higher tariff price.

Haha it's not about cost of components. It's about maximizing the consumers willingness to spend

Not really lol. Components come down in prices over time.

This is a bad way to look at it. All other consoles came down in price 5 year after release. PS5 and xbox series is the only one that increased. I remember getting ps4 and ps3 for 200 bucks. PS4 was 400 at launch and ps3 was 600.

You cannot compare a video game console to other technology like PC or with similar parts. It's the video games and the experience behind it like online multiplayer that helps retain its value.

I agree, I am sure that the price increase was more about maintaining their profit margins than it was about avoiding selling at a loss. I just wouldn't judge whether or not it was a "deal" based on the 2020 price and adjusting for inflation. It's more a deal if you really want to have one, and this is cheaper than you can get it anywhere else. Glad I got mine around BF last year.

Less than 10% off of launch MSRP is a deal... Sony has already bragged multiple times about how much profit they're making this console generation. Greed is ruining everything

You would think, but we're still dealing with global supply chain issues, inflation and of course, tariffs.

The 399 model was very hard to get a hold of at launch and even in the years after - Most PS5s available were the disk version.

Crazy to think I got the Slim 1TB disc spiderman bundle for only $350 minus coupons and rewards at staples for a final price of $270. And this was only in Feb of 24. I think still blaming supply chain issues is a bunch of crock. Inflation and tariffs definitely.

Nah these companies are just greedy. Economy is as good as ever and they saw consumers willingness to spend 2x/3x the price for scalped consoles and GPUs and it set the market baseline.

As a business why would you make 10 dollars when you could make 20 dollars
