The Costco deal is $55 more but includes an extra controller so basically the same when it comes to overall deal.
https://slickdeals.net/f/18720481

Unsure why this is getting downvoted as it matches the pricing frorm yesterday's +124 Frontpage deal. It only takes an extra minute or two to sign up for a free IGN account.
https://slickdeals.net/f/18722797

edit: now that the NBA2K26 game is included for free, I'd rank this "IGN" deal better than the Costco deal.

That's an interesting way of viewing it but seems to leave out a key consideration... Technology prices generally come down over time. Without a doubt, most of the components needed to build a PS5 are cheaper today than they were in 2020

Less than 10% off of launch MSRP is a deal... Sony has already bragged multiple times about how much profit they're making this console generation. Greed is ruining everything

Community Reviews

The PS5 Slim bundle is being framed as a solid value, especially the 1TB disc version with NBA 2K26 included. The price is seen as competitive versus recent inflation and other retailers, and the bundle can land under $400 after reselling the game. The disc bundle also gets the nod over the 825GB digital model because of the extra storage and drive. The main drawback is PlayStation Direct checkout trouble, with repeated transaction errors and promo code issues. A good fit if you want the disc model and can get the site to cooperate.

people who want a PS5 Slim but don't mind the digital-only 825GB model because $374 was viewed as a fairly decent deal versus inflation-adjusted launch pricing, and some commenters even suggested paying extra only if you specifically want the 1TB disc version
inthepipefivebyfive
buyers comparing the IGN bundle to Costco when you value the included NBA 2K26 because commenters said the Costco deal's extra $55 is basically for an extra controller, and with NBA 2K26 now included for free they ranked the IGN deal better
Eragorn
people who are okay with PlayStation Direct workarounds because at least one commenter said the order failed at first but worked after placing it a few hours later (suggesting it may be a site timing issue rather than the deal itself)
MattThaAsian
PS5 upgraders coming from a PS4 who want a straightforward "upgrade and play" purchase because one commenter said upgrading from a PS4 1.5 years ago to the PS5 Slim was a great deal and they like the system
NikonShr
people who plan to resell the included game to improve effective value because one commenter said after selling NBA 2K26 the bundle came out to under $400 for a slim system
CornPopThuggzMatta

people trying to buy through PlayStation Direct who run into checkout/backend problems because multiple commenters said PlayStation Direct was broken for them (errors, no way to contact support, and the deal became unusable)
GreyOstrich3026 BoastfulDesk991 NavyGame2439 NavyGame2439
buyers who need to use Klarna/discount steps during checkout because commenters reported repeated checkout errors when trying Klarna and conflicting guidance from support, concluding PS Direct was unreliable
BoastfulDesk991
people who want to avoid extra account setup for DLC because one commenter said they had to create both an IGN and a PS Direct account for exclusive holiday DLC, which made the process take hours
BoastfulDesk991
people expecting a big price drop on a console that's already several years old because one commenter said the PS5 is a 5-year-old console and even a Pro would be only marginally better on outdated hardware, so they didn't see strong value
TexusSooner
people who only want the deal if it's cheaper than a used-console going rate because one commenter said used PS5 consoles typically go for about $300-$350
Golgatha

The CFI-2000 2K26 bundle model is described as having extra storage and an additional game.

The 825GB digital price is framed as a fairly decent deal versus inflation-adjusted launch pricing.

The 1TB disc bundle can work out under $400 after selling NBA 2K26.
CornPopThuggzMatta
The 2K26 bundle can be cheaper than buying a controller separately.

Checkout can show a transaction error that directs buyers to retail partners.

Trade-in vouchers may be restricted to playstationdirect.com and may not combine with promo codes.
SensibleSnake3834 nshah
PlayStation Direct ordering can fail due to backend limitations and lack of direct support contact.
GreyOstrich3026
Klarna and discount steps can trigger repeated checkout errors and conflicting guidance from support.
BoastfulDesk991

Common Questions (5)

No, checkout can fail with the message, "Unfortunately we are unable to process your transaction. Please visit one of our retail partners." Switching browsers can help; one order went through on Safari after failing on Chrome, and another succeeded when retried a few hours later.
GreyOstrich3026 MattThaAsian NavyGame2439 NavyGame2439
Yes. The 825GB discless PS5 launched at $399 in 2020, which is roughly $470 in today's dollars, so $374 is a solid discount versus launch value. The main caveat is that the 1TB disc version is often the better buy if you want more storage and a disc drive.
inthepipefivebyfive nitestal rly723
The 1TB disc NBA 2K26 bundle is the better value for most shoppers because it adds 175GB more storage and includes an extra game. The non-bundle disc model is the newer CFI-2100, which is reported to run a little cooler and quieter with a matte finish, so it mainly makes sense if you care more about those small hardware changes than the extra storage and game.
AquaMorning6225 AquaMorning6225 BoastfulDesk991
Yes. After reselling the included NBA 2K26 code, the 1TB disc bundle can come out to under $400 all-in, making it effectively cheaper than the sticker price suggests. One checkout example also showed $549.99 subtotal, $125 off, $0 shipping, and $34 tax for a total of about $458.99.
CornPopThuggzMatta hotwheeler69
The voucher is only valid on playstationdirect.com, and the fine print says it cannot be combined with a promo code. If the bundle price is already lower than the coupon-adjusted price, it can still be worthwhile, but the voucher and promo generally appear to be mutually exclusive.

I read an article the other day that stated component prices have not gone down much since 2020. And some have even increased

I usually waited multiple years for price drops that didn't happen with ps5. I got a refurb pa3 slim on 2012 for $150 and ps4 pro in 2017 for $300. If the ps5 slim dropped to $300 that would've been fair but now unlikely

You could have sold your PS4 Pro for over 200 during covid (I got 200 for my fat PS4 back then) before PS5 release and bought it for $300. No need to keep the previous console if the new one has backwards compatibility. Treat consoles like phones and trade in when new model is out.
