THIS. I bought other brands on sale, but most folk will only play with Franklins. The other brands play perfectly fine and are more durable, but the moment someone hits a bad shot, they blame the ball. It's like "no dude, you screwed up, not the ball", but are quickly defensive. So pick up some of these for personal use but I would NOT buy dozens of these balls for rec play with others.

I have not personally used these. But I assume most beginner casual rec players won't mind them. But if you want to challenge random people/pick up games, most will want to play with franklins.

I bought last time when there was a deal. They break easily and are very soft. I use them as a backup.

It's sorta these x40s, Selkirks, and maybe one others. I think I bought these last time and returned them as I didn't want to be judged using them. I am curious how they play..I play 4-6 times per week. Right now slight forearm pain so I'm taking a few days off but really wishing for some x40 greens to be on sale again

The X-40 is terrible. About 4 hours total play time and it will crack. The cult is even worse.

If you like the X-40s then you should give these balls a try. They're slightly faster (most people won't notice) and way more durable.

We don't say football balls, we don't say baseball balls, we don't say basketball balls, so why say Pickleball balls?

We use these. Perfectly fine for casual play. Never had a complaint from any in our group.

Sheer curiosity after reading a few comments. Only play a few times a month...mid 50's male...so dont' move like i used to. (speed, bending etc). Been playing with some pickleballs we bought at a local Ross/TJ Maxx...something like that. They are/were a "brand name" I can't remember at the moment...but not one of the "big names". They've appeared to wear and hold up well...no splits or anything. I also, recently, bought a pack of the X-40's off Amazon to try. We think we immediately noticed they didn't seem to "bounce" as well. Seemed "flat" on bounces and shots....compared to the ones we already had. (hence the reason I mentioned not moving like I used to....because that made it harder to get to shots etc...at least that's what we perceived).
Just curious if anybody has seen/experienced similar? OR.....have we gotten used to a ball that should NOT play like it does or is NOT the norm/expectation....and should consider moving on to something less "lively" for a more accurate experience? (I know....just play and enjoy....but makes me wonder if I need to get used to something else..if that makes sense).
