Have this air compressor, pretty decent price. It's really loud though, so when I would use it indoors for my Brad nailer I'd let it fill up outside then turn it off and use it for a bit before taking it outside again to refill.

I'm thinking of buying this just for the brad nailer. I guess instead of taking it outside to charge just put a earmuff on

It depends on the size of your yard.

If it's a smaller yard and a sprinkler system with smaller zones, then this will totally do the trick. You just might have to blow out each zone a few times (make sure to set the PSI to about 60). I've been using a 6 gallon pancake like this for my (slightly less than 1/4 acre) yard, and it works fine. It really doesn't take that long.

It likely won't get all of the water out, but it will get most of it out, which is really all you need.

Super loud. I can hear it clearly with hearing protection. I will be spending extra for the quiet versions.

Thanks! I missed this a few weeks ago the last time it was on sale. Excited to try using this to air out the underground sprinklers instead of paying $90/year for 5 minutes of the sprinkler guy's time.

In general you need volume to blow out sprinkler lines. So you want something with a much larger tank

I think it depends on your system. I moved into a new house last year and had to do it for the first time. My neighbor came and did it with a little Makita compressor that he uses for his yard and we got it done. One zone at a time, letting the compressor fully recharge between zones, two passes per zone (plus maybe a third if it didn't look clear on the second).

I think it was the 2-tank 4.2 gallon one though (not the one-tank 2-gallon) so while the tank is smaller than this Craftsman, the compressor itself may be more powerful and rated for 4.2CFM at 90PSI vs only 2.6 for this pancake.

So even though the tank gives you a bit more in reserve, you might struggle on a larger system.

That being said, this year I borrowed a much bigger compressor and I feel like it still took me just as long to get it done. Seems like unless you are renting a truck/trailer-mount compressor that can blow out the entire system in one pass all at once...you're gonna have to wait for it to recharge a bunch.

For sprinklers, this will work if you're patient and you cycle it through your sprinkler system multiple times until you don't see any more water coming out of the sprinkler heads. If you want to do it fast, you'll want a bigger tank and a bigger motor. A 1 hp motor is going to fill up the tank slowly.

The sprinkler guy takes 5 minutes because he's got 10 grand invested in equipment. And he's got a lot of clients
