This compact 1 gallon Ryobi wet dry vac stands out for car cleaning, small projects, and quick household cleanup, with strong suction for its size and easy portability. It handles dust, drywall debris, small water pickups, fireplace ash, lint traps, and even spider duty, and the onboard storage for the crevice tool is handy. The main drawbacks are the short hose, fast battery drain, and filters that can be pricey or need the right HEPA version for ash. A practical little vac if compact size matters more than full shop vac reach.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. It has enough suction for cars, small project cleanup, drywall dust, lint traps, and light water pickup, while staying compact and portable. It is not a full-size shop vac, but it is strong for its size and intended use.

  • Yes, the hose is short and narrow, so car cleaning often means holding the vacuum in one hand and the hose in the other. That makes it less convenient for larger areas and can limit what debris it can pick up without an extension or extra attachment.

  • It can handle fireplace ash for some users, but the standard filter may let fine ash pass through and blow back into the room. The HEPA blue filter A32RF08 is the safer choice if ash cleanup is a regular use.

  • It can often be run with other 18V or 20V batteries using an adapter, including DeWalt 20V and Milwaukee M18 setups. That makes it a practical option if you already own batteries from another platform and do not want to buy into Ryobi batteries.

  • Yes, the small canister filters are washable, which helps offset the cost. If you need replacements later, generic packs are much cheaper than Ryobi-branded filters, which makes long-term ownership less expensive.

Bought this 25 days ago for $80 (needed it that day for a project) and was able to go into Home Depot and get a ~$30 price adjustment today.

Just picked one up. Thanks op! I also own the 3 gal version, and I find that the 3 gal version is too bulky at times and I never ever fill it up before emptying. So the 3 gal is not as good as the 1 gal. Also the attachments fall off the 3 gal. whereas the 1 gal has more secure places for 2 attachments. Anyone know where I can get a wider attachment 4" for cars? The one that came with the 3 gal fell off and got lost.
In your experience how does this compare to the Bissell little green? Thanks

This is a vacuum. The little green is in a different category. Its a carpet shampoo/cleaner. Its like asking how does a hammer compare to a screwdriver. Different tools for different purposes.

Just got mine and I'm disappointed. The hose is very short. It seems like you would have to hold the vacuum in one hand with the hose in the other when cleaning a car. I'm going to try it for a few tasks but at this point I'm thinking I'll probably return it. Bummer.

I already have a Dyson V11 that I mostly use indoors, but I don't really mind using it for the car if needed. I also already have a Ryobi 18V battery (just the small 1.5Ah one). Do you guys think this vacuum is still worth picking up, or would it just end up being another tool lying around that I don't really need?

This tool uses a lot of juice. For me, 1.5ah wouldn't last long enough to be useful. You would be recharging often.

Is the price graph correct? According to it, they just jacked up the price.
