Features:
  • ELEGOO PLA MATTE filament features matte low-saturation macaron colors. These pastel shades bring a touch of elegance to your prints, while the matte finish helps to hide visible layer lines for a better visual appeal.
  • Our PLA MATTE is less prone to stringing and deformation than PLA, resulting in cleaner and more accurate prints, reducing the need for post-processing and saving you time and effort.
  • Our matte PLA boasts an impressive dimensional accuracy of +/- 0.02mm and a tight tolerance of 1.75mm diameter, ensuring consistency and precision in every print.
  • Each cardboard spool is neatly wound and undergoes strict manual inspection to prevent filament entangles and crossed turns, providing a smooth and uninterrupted printing experience.
  • All filaments go through a complete drying process and are vacuum-sealed with desiccants to prevent dust and moisture. This reduces clogging or bubbles during printing and maintains optimal filament conditions.

PETG's tougher and handles heat better, but PLA prints cleaner, with sharper details, less stringing, and better dimensional accuracy. Each has its place depending on the part's purpose. I print plenty of PETG and it's often my default material (depending on what I have on hand) when either is acceptable, but calling it superior "in every possible way" ignores reality.

Yeeep funny I'd never print a hush can out of PETG because it would fracture after the first round and yet PLA+ will handle thousands...almost like different materials are for different applications and not a single one is best for everything.

Do these come in cardboard spools? Rather get the Sunlu with the plastic spools

Yes, these do come in cardboard spools. I do like sunlu, but the printed color especially on the Elegoo matte comes out much nicer. I found Sunlu to be a bit muted.

I still use some Sunlu for some of my PLA prints as it generally costs less.

There are several adapter ring profiles for the Elegoo cardboard spools if you search Makerworld and are concerned about your AMS. They don't use much filament and most I used were an about 17-18 minute print. Or you can wrap the spool with electrical tape which is what I did prior to being aware of the adapters.

that's an odd statement... they're both good at what they're made for.
PLA if you want rigidity and accuracy
PETG if you want flex and a bit more temperature handling

ain't nobody printing miniatures with PETG, nor are they printing the functional components of a foam dart blaster with it.
ain't nobody printing coil spring launchers with PLA, nor are the printing anything else that needs to move/flex.
PLA's tendency to deform permanently under static load can also be a benefit depending on the application. When put into a pressure situation it will slowly deform and release tension. This can actually be really nice where you don't need heat resistance, but are dealing with poorly specced interfaces.

PETG in the same situation will sit under tension until it encounters a dynamic load beyond its strength, and then shatter. PLA will have deformed, thereby releasing the tension and the dynamic load isn't enough to overcome PLA's rigidity.

Right tool for the right job.

I've been printing mostly in PTEG lately. Any reason why you prefer pla?
I like PLA just for color options personally. But prefer to print anything functional in PETG

YES, finally. Matte filament at less than $12 a roll! Thank you. I bought 30 rolls! lol. 20 black and 10 white. I find that the deeplee or elegoo brand print bettter than anything else I have tried on my bambu lab printer.
Have you tried Sunlu PLA matte? They're always cheaper than this price, and the prints I get are fantastic.

Maybe not the best place to ask. But what printer and setup would someone recommend to a smart 9yo looking to get into 3D printing.

Bambu A1 Mini. I recommend it for anyone really. It's a great printer that's as close as you can get to "it just works."

I use them as well, but I really like the elegoo filament a bit better. The sunlu for some reason sometimes gives me adhesion issues, even on the supertack bed from bambu... but the elegoo has never done that yet. I can't tell why though and have no explanation for it. Especially the black!

Bambu, which ever model you can afford. Bought my 16 y/o son the A1 Combo, and it's been great. Search here on SD for the BF sale coming up, as prices have been posted.

I bought these filaments last year .. The blue and black are nice looking, the red is not deep red, it is like a cheap kids toy red.
