Only another $60 more (before promo code) in the configurator for a bump up to the 500-nits, 2560x1600, 240hz refresh rate IPS panel seems like the slickest option.

The OLED panel in this is reported to flicker if anyone is sensitive the that. The IPS panels do not have any flickering.

Really like HP's design philosophy on the Omen Max line this generation: full-power everything, no throttling, if the user doesn't like the fan noise they can customize fan and power settings on their own.

Good to see a gaming laptop with actual advanced optimus and G-sync. Too many "gaming" laptops posted these days without adaptive sync making the front page IMO. Like the 2025 Lenovo Legion 5.

Omen is a step down in build quality & cooling, but much better specs for the price. A comparable Lenovo 7 Pro with 5070 TI would be ~$1800 on sale. Perhaps the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 series is more comparable in price and build quality to the Omen Max.

OMEN MAX and LEGION PRO 7 are in the same category, the difference are minor and are only about DESIGN preference. Build quality is the same, same material, same material processing, just different designs and that is where you decide what you like the most.Performance wise are the same, few more or less FPS around 60 don't really make difference.Choose the design you like, both are high end.I do have the omen max and legion pro 7i, so I can confirm build quality are superb on both, but designs are different evidently.

I just threw out an overheating 1.5 years old Omen laptop which first just went black for minutes, then refused to turn on altogether.

Cleaned fans first, fans could not be removed because of screws under the motherboard. Redid thermal paste, overheating improved but did not fully stop.

It's infuriating to throw out cpu and graphical chips worth $100s just because a bad motherboard capacitor or something bad in the charging circuit. HP never again. In fact gaming laptop never again.
