With how fast technology is marching on people are better served getting the cheapest PC that gets the job done. Most $500 slickdeal laptops will surf the web and handle basic office tasks just fine.
I keep wanting to upgrade my i7 laptop but my current laptop works just fine and better tech is just around the corner.
No average consumer should be paying $1,000 for a laptop let alone a 13" laptop with 512GB storage. That is ridiculous.

Powerpc processors were originally an AIM product. And they are rarely used in actual PCs. They are more of an embedded application chip. The Apple m1 is NOT a Powerpc chip.

apple > intel(lunar lake) > snapdragon > amd
In other words, if you value battery life in a laptop, don't get AMD.

Lunar lake for example you can't undervolt(you can power limit though) but there is no amount of tuning you can do on any amd or intel chip that would give it equal efficency.
On the intel side you can tune the chips they just need to have an HX or K sku. the arrow lake series for example like the 255hx and 275hx can be tuned. In fact tuned arrow lake will beat out tuned strix point in terms of efficency even though stock it is less efficient because they are made to run at 100+ W comapred to strix point which runs at like 30W out of the box. mostly because arrow lake is on 3nm(same as lunar lake) wheras amd's current top end chips run on 4nm still.
it is a bit confusing bc Intel has so many different architectures and nodes like the core ultra 200H chips are basically on meteor lake using a variety of nodes around 5nm from intel and tsmc. Then the 200 HX chips use tsmc 3nm on arrow lake and the 200V chips use lunar lake on tsmc 3NM. Also the 200 without a letter are still using old raptor lake on intel 10 nm. just an overall terrible naming scheme and lineup
