This is the lowest it's ever been on Slickdeals (new) and $4 less than the Frontpage deal earlier this month. Not much but still thought it was worth sharing.

RTINGS Review - https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/r...g/hw-q990d
8.6/10 for Mixed Usage - "The Samsung Q990D is excellent for mixed usage. This bar can do it all. It has a very balanced and neutral sound, so it sounds versatile enough for movies, TV shows, and music. It delivers thumpy and punchy bass, too, thanks to its subwoofer, and you can even customize its sound thanks to its robust sound enhancement features. This bar supports a lot of different audio formats and can play Dolby Atmos content to give you a really immersive and dimensional audio experience."

I've been looking for a new soundbar to replace my current 15 year old Vizio system from Costco. In researching, it seems like the Q990 series is consistently ranked the best all around soundbar regardless of model c, d, or f. Rolling the dice here. Hoping it lives up to all the hype.

What a wild ride I just went on to get this deal today, thanks! Went down a small Reddit rabbithole, found a way to get an edu email address by actually filling out a very basic online college application and within an hour they had me my own email address, created a new Samsung account with it and the discount auto-applied and should be here by Halloween it says (hopefully).

I wish those of us that have access could just help order for others instead of having people go through all that.

The F version is out. Just waiting on Sammy to put it on edd/epp you know me gonna wait in see. The F version has smaller form factor on the sub, but it's 2 of them facing back to back for more tub thumper.

I don't have space for 2 speakers. Does it work without connecting these 2 speakers? Is subwoofer wireless?
Subwoofer needs AC wall outlet plug & thats it. The surround speakers each need outlet power also. No need to run rca jacks through the walls or ceiling. I have my rear speakers on power strips, so I just flip the switch off when I only wanna use the sub & soundbar.

Yes, just sign up for 1 class like pottery making, under water basket weaving, axe sharpening, mouth flame throwing, ebonics 101, at your local community college & you get an edu email.

This soundbar is pretty hyped up here and I bought one for the reason.
One of the better sound bars out there but $700 price point is also up there. This is not a full scale audio system and not even close to a basic 5.2 channel system.

Wireless except the power
That's good to know. I have never researched on a sound bar. Maybe there are other setups with side wireless that I should be looking at as well.

Got an old lg sj9 and two back speakers that still works: sound is ok not great for fake Dolby atmos. Quirky and sluggish software/firmware from LG.

Would this be a worthy upgrade?

Bought the C version about 3 years ago. Worked well for about a year and a half. Then I noticed audio wasn't coming out of it.

Long story short, even after updating firmware, resetting the thing, turning it on with nothing plugged in, and other things, it won't stay on more than a couple minutes.

Paid $800 for a giant paper weight.

It was already on sale through Woot for about $900. They may still have it. If you want to wait for the F to get to this D discount price, you'll be waiting a while.

True. Yes it shipped. A handful were able to get it.
I had done pickup at PC Richard and Son and surprisingly it wasn't cancelled. It was also brand new. The employees were shocked.

how does this compare to the sennheiser ambeo plus (total 1600 bar $1000 sub $600, and no surround speakers), I walked by the ambeo demo in a Best Buy and felt like i hadn't heard such good music in years, but i'm not an audiophile.

I got mine 2 week ago, to replace my 5.2.4(ELAC + denon 4300H), i'm very happy with the results. The only cons, there is not OSD for the soundbar, but you can use your cellphone to control it in a better way
