With the UPS My Choice I had last year, I was never ONCE able to reschedule or hold or modify a shipment in any way. It always gave some kind of generic "sorry, unable to change delivery date / location for this package" no matter how far in advance or close of a timeframe I tried to do it within.

Pretty much they are giving you what should be for free. You guys paying for this is why they now charge for it.

Change delivery date should be free and makes no sense to charge for it, especially for packages that need signed for.

I just make anything that needs signed for arrives around Thursday/Friday that way they redeliver it on Saturday lol

It is free... I call them and tell them to change the date. They say you have to pay for that. I say no problem, you can make 3 trips to my place and then return to sender. Somehow they manage to change the delivery date for free....

FedEx is the worst my friends and family agree.
I usually buy elsewhere if FedEx is the company's shipper of choice.

Incompetent Metro wireless had an issue and the rep put down the wrong address. Even though I repeated it twice! I told them within an hour of the call, and visible was like we cannot change it now, and they shipped it.

Back and fourth with these clowns at Metro wireless and the they told me to contact UPS. I did and UPS told me it couldn't be changed unless I bought this premium membership. I told them "So you would rather deliver the package to an empty lot than my house because I'm not paying for this? good luck with that!"

I did a credit card charge back! I hate Metro. And will never give UPS a dime. Hope their delivery man had fun driving down a dirt road and dropping off the metro phone in the middle of a dirt field! You shouldn't have to pay for these services but it's now some big scam. Where if a company gets your address wrong UPS sees dollar signs and would rather deliver to some dirt field. Pretty much they hold your package hostage.
They also see dollar signs in tariffs - where now they tack on "broker fees" that often exceed the tariff itself.

Recent example on a small package from Canada… item value $35, tariff $14, UPS broker fee $24. No way to challenge or self sign, for "my convenience" they automatically handle it and charge me.

Some people think everything should be free. That person has zero concept of how complex everything gets when it's scaled beyond their single transaction.
So by having the customer pay for the change, it suddenly becomes less complex? $15/yr is about $1/month. You're saying $1 is enough to ease the complexity changing a delivery date? It's UPS finding ways to raise millions of dollars by charging customers for a convenience that should be free, but like airlines and other things in life, think nickel-and-diming customers is OK.

And I agree with others...FEDEX is better than UPS.

Does this auto-renew after a year?...because I cannot find a way to cancel before the year is up.
1. Go to UPS My Choices Membership
2. Go to Membership Details
3. Select the "Name and Address" tab
4. Uncheck the little square box "I want UPS to automatically renew my Premium membership.
5. Click the "Save Changes" button

Worth every dollar.
Right, you're probably a unionized employee. The rest of us with brains know this is a huge ripoff. They still nickel-and-dime Premium subscribers for most any useful feature. And "upgrading" USPS to UPS actually slows every shipment down by at least one day.

Basically UPS started charging a flat fee or % depending which is more for having to process tarrifs for you. Regardless of item value.

Why should changing the delivery date be free? It's more non-standard logistics that they have to perform for your convenience.
Because now they have to attempt to deliver the package 3 times, and I'll be home Saturday to sign for it

I'd argue that, at least for signing, it's for their convenience.

Unless they're picking up packages I need to send back, I don't need it...
Informed Delivery tells me all I need to know, and it's free...

and if they hold it for you to deliver a different day, they have to put it in a warehouse and you have to hope it doesn't get lost. There's no reason why other people should be subsidizing ups taking on those extra costs for you.

Anything shipped with import duties due involves additional hassle and administrative work hours for the carrier. Those extra costs are charged to the consignee.
