While this is a decent 1080p budget projector at this price. I'd recommend getting something different. I'll try to highlight some good points in between compromises.

This is bigger than the old 1080p mini projectors, but brighter too. While fan noise is a bit louder, it's still within an acceptable range. The 10,000:1 contrast ratio is noticeable. You get sharper content on a larger screen. This can produce a larger screen at the same distance than the mini projectors.

While all this is good, it shares the same issues as most budget mini projectors. Use case is for dark rooms. Speakers are okay, better to connect Bluetooth speakers, you're probably gonna connect a TV stick anyway. Screen mirroring is better achieved through the TV stick. Manual focus and vertical keystone.

So this is mainly good if you don't mind the size and are going to set it up in a dark room and want a larger and brighter display then what's possible with the mini ones.

The mini ones are better if you intend to travel with them, or want less fan noise, are able to have absolute darkness, are not going to watch within a 60 in screen, want to project to the ceiling (leas weight makes it easier on mini tripods.)

What I'd recommend now over this are the newer 1080p mini projectors that have tilting built in. Some can turn 180 degrees. You don't need a tripod. Some of these are under 100 USD now, and will go on sale for close to this price every now and then. Some of them have focus control through the remote, and automatic keystone (usually vertical.) Some will also have some built in apps too. Imo it's better to get these modern versions now. Much less hassle.

This is one of the ones I recommend. It has it's own issues, but it's great when it goes on sale and it's paired with a tv stick. haven't needed external speakers for these yet.

If the goal is to have a mini projector maybe the TMY is a good choice but the Groview jq818c has a better image quality/brightness/contrast and is around the same price($90) on sale.

That is maybe just slightly bigger than the 6 by 5 by 3 in projectors I've seen, but that 12000:1 contrast ratio looks promising. Yeah I'd image quality is super important that's a great option, especially if that goes on sale any lower. But sometimes these auto keystone types are super handy as well. And they're improving too.

I would suggest if you're in the market for one of these to watch this video

Head to head comparisons start around 4:30. Consider the features that are most important. Auto keystone, image quality, price, brightness, etc.

Edit:: I believe the same model Happrun is included in the review I linked above and is a great projector especially for $45.

Yea no auto features on the Groview but the image quality compared to most in the sub $200 category is really good for a budget 1080p projector. I've had the Groview for going on 2 years now and just use it sporadically for movie nights outside.

That one is a 720p projector. It says 20,000:1 contrast ratio, but I don't know if that's real. Also don't know how much it helps with a lower resolution. That's where the TMY and similar would be better.

Much appreciated. I happened to catch it a few days ago. Definitely want to grab a cheap hy260 for random purposes if I can find one. Glad to see it looks like my JQ818C was still a good choice.
