If you look at the price history the price has been steadily stair-stepping down by a few dozen cents every few days. I purchased 3 and set the shipping date as far as possible (Amazon Day delivery). Keep checking daily, if the price drops and still in stock, cancel order and re-buy, repeat as needed. That way you ensure you get the best price and you will receive it

What's the catch here?
From the reviews it looks to me like it's not reliable at handling multiple devices and/or 3.1 speeds

It's amazon basics so you're the guinea pig as to if it catches fire or damages something. EEK!

No way to separately power.
Plausible to overheat and easy to overdraw and crash (common to cheap bus-powered hubs)

A lot of AMD builds support 20gbps USB-C 3.2Gen2x2 or 40gbps USB4 at rear.
Using this to expand that port, would halve or quarter the max bandwidth.

I bought this hub last week and it was DOA. I returned it. I don't recommend it.

I just got this. It works; the aluminum is nice, but it's cheaply built so the outlets are super tight -- you really have to jam your USB stuff in there with force.
