I have six of these. They are great cameras
for about a year, then lots of issues.

The ones that are in direct sun, basically
never die. But they are also the first to have
the solar panels mess up and get burn spots.
Then the panel stops charging.

The cameras out in the sun also get hit with
all the weather. Ip67 holds up well for many
months. But all of my cameras, eventually fail
due moisture getting in the housing

Only way to fix them is to crack them open
and dry them out (no longer ip67). The few I
left in a bag full of silicone packets, even
after 3 months, never got rid of all the
moisture.

Overall, $60, I'd definitely buy them if you
have a home base 3 already. Every camera
has great range and camera quality. Just
don't expect them to last more than a 1-2
years.

Spot on, this aligns with my experiences as well. I thought about adding more of this until realized they don't hold up as well as I'd like the to with a lifespan of only 1-2 years.

I have 2 of the original home kit ones(1k). 3 years and going strong. Battery lasts about 9months and have never had an issue. Low traffic area, so they don't go off too often, but I am very happy with them, other than the clarity, which isn't horrible.

I just bought two of these recently and decided to put them side by side while I tested solar panels.
And... I'm about to return my two S220 cameras since they're so unreliable.
Because of my solar panel testing, I realized how bad these cameras were. With the same settings, side by side, occasionally only one of the two cameras would record anything! I set the sensitivity up 6 out of 7 on both cameras and I would still get only one of the two cameras detecting and capturing.
Also, another annoyance I found: If an event happens, my camera(s) willl notify me but if I go to the app and look for all events for that day, I won't see the recent events until much later. I'm guessing the cameras have to upload them first?** What that means is that if you get a notification and you want to immediately check it out... good luck!
**If it's true that these cameras won't post events until after they've uploaded them, that makes me wonder where and why they're uploading the recordings anywhere since I'm not using the home base and the recordings are supposed to only exist on the cameras themselves.
Unfortunately, I chose these because I had bought some of their other cameras before and I didn't realize how much events I was missing. So, I'm stuck with their cameras now.
If you do decide to buy these anyways, I also discovered something odd. While setting them up, they would not connect to my home's wifi. However, they would connect to my phone's wifi tether so I renamed my phone's wifi to match my router's wifi, set up the cameras, then turned my home's wifi back on.
Finally, I highly recommend adding solar panels, it makes a huge difference based on my testing. It could also prolong the life of your cameras by taking the brunt of the sun's rays or letting you hide your camera under something else.
