This Milwaukee M18 starter kit stands out for bundling two 5.0Ah batteries and a charger with a free select tool, making it especially useful if you want to build out an M18 setup or grab a bare tool at a discount. The free-tool list includes options like the inflator, jig saw, radio, 6.0Ah battery, and 4500 lumen Rover, and the kit is described as a strong battery deal with many tools that usually cost $125 or more bare. The main caveat is price history and tool choice, since the same bundle was seen at $179 before and the 3/8 inch impact has drawn doubts for lug nut work. A solid bundle if the included tool fits your needs.
People who want M18 batteries and a charger at a discount and are okay with a "hack" approach because commenters described it as a solid deal for the 2x 5.0Ah batteries and suggested "reverse hack"/return strategies to get batteries/charger cheaper.
DIYers doing flooring and trim projects (like LVP installation, baseboard, and shoe molding) because the commenters said they used the M18 tools to save the cost of hiring out installation and got fast, consistent results (e.g., brad nailer for shoe molding).
Shoppers who need a specific M18 tool from the free-tool choice (like an inflator, jigsaw, or even the Rover light) because commenters said the free tool options are broad and that the kit "sells out pretty fast" each year.
Car owners expecting the compact 3/8" impact in this kind of kit to remove lug nuts reliably because one commenter tried it on a golf cart and it couldn't even remove a lug nut (they weren't impressed so far).
People who are only looking for the lowest historical price because a commenter said they saw the same deal for $179 two years ago, implying $199 isn't the best low they've seen.
The 3/8 impact tool's lug-nut usefulness is uncertain because guidance includes both using it with impact sockets and switching to a 1/2" tool instead.
Yes. The starter kit includes two 5.0Ah batteries and a charger plus one select M18 tool, with options including the new radio, inflator, 6.0Ah battery, jigsaw, and 4500-lumen Rover light. It tends to sell out quickly.
Yes. The deal can be reversed so the batteries and charger are effectively the discounted part if you only want the battery pack, while the tool can be the item you keep or return depending on your setup.
It may not be enough for stubborn lug nuts. One use on a golf cart could not remove a lug nut, while the M12 Stubby and M18 mid-torque are the commonly recommended choices for that job.
I just did the m18 inflator with the 2 5.0 batteries. I believe it will allow for me to return either for $99 if I wish to hack. Best deal I've seen on this in a while: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa.../320022879
I think the inflator is about the only tool in this list I don't already have. These threads are starting to resemble the 4k Blu-ray threads for me. I may have a problem...
I'm currently in the middle of putting down ~1,000 sq-ft of CoreTec Ultra LVP (surprising solid quality) in my house and justified the purchase of the M18 Jigsaw (where was this deal then, eh?), the M18 Multi-Tool and the M12 caulk gun by saving the several thousand it would cost to pay someone to install. I continue to be impressed by these tools on a daily basis, they just have no equal. That said, the M12 caulk gun, while laying a perfectly even bead, requires you to be the fastest caulk gun dude in the west, even on the lowest setting. I did a 12-15ft stretch of baseboard in about 8 seconds. Who TF is setting #6 for?
My favorite tool of the bunch, however, is the M18 Brad Nailer. After hundreds of feet of shoe molding (going from carpet to LVP), I just couldn't imagine doing it another way. Perfectly set 18ga nails every 6 inches in a matter of minutes.

Solid deal lately for the batteries if you need one of the tools. There are some options here that usually don't end up in deals when the batteries are the toss in. Most of the tools on it will run you 125+ for the bare metal ones, some a bit more.

M18 2-5.0 starter kit plus free tool choose from 13 . Including the new radio , inflator , 6.0 battery , jig saw , 4500 lume rover etc. every year this sells out pretty fast !
What's the current method for hacking without returning? Isn't it now frowned upon to set it for store pickup and let it expire?
Yaass!! Pickup & abandon will get you ghost banned. The new way is order & ship to your crib. Then drive over to Homey Depot & refund the 1 you dont want.
The Gen-3 impact wrench seems like the tool for me. Anyone else have experience (good or bad) with this tool?
It's been solid so far - I use it for brake and suspension work and it's perfect for that. It's great for the times you don't want (or need) to get the big Gen2 1/2" out with it's 1600 ft-lbs of "nut-busting torque."
I dunno who writes the copy for MIlwaukee, but I love that guy.
