This Milwaukee M18 starter kit stands out for bundling two 5.0Ah batteries and a charger with a free select tool, making it especially useful if you want to build out an M18 setup or grab a bare tool at a discount. The free-tool list includes options like the inflator, jig saw, radio, 6.0Ah battery, and 4500 lumen Rover, and the kit is described as a strong battery deal with many tools that usually cost $125 or more bare. The main caveat is price history and tool choice, since the same bundle was seen at $179 before and the 3/8 inch impact has drawn doubts for lug nut work. A solid bundle if the included tool fits your needs.
People who want M18 batteries and a charger at a discount and are okay with a "hack" approach because commenters described it as a solid deal for the 2x 5.0Ah batteries and suggested "reverse hack"/return strategies to get batteries/charger cheaper.
DIYers doing flooring and trim projects (like LVP installation, baseboard, and shoe molding) because the commenters said they used the M18 tools to save the cost of hiring out installation and got fast, consistent results (e.g., brad nailer for shoe molding).
Shoppers who need a specific M18 tool from the free-tool choice (like an inflator, jigsaw, or even the Rover light) because commenters said the free tool options are broad and that the kit "sells out pretty fast" each year.
Car owners expecting the compact 3/8" impact in this kind of kit to remove lug nuts reliably because one commenter tried it on a golf cart and it couldn't even remove a lug nut (they weren't impressed so far).
People who are only looking for the lowest historical price because a commenter said they saw the same deal for $179 two years ago, implying $199 isn't the best low they've seen.
The 3/8 impact tool's lug-nut usefulness is uncertain because guidance includes both using it with impact sockets and switching to a 1/2" tool instead.
Yes. The starter kit includes two 5.0Ah batteries and a charger plus one select M18 tool, with options including the new radio, inflator, 6.0Ah battery, jigsaw, and 4500-lumen Rover light. It tends to sell out quickly.
Yes. The deal can be reversed so the batteries and charger are effectively the discounted part if you only want the battery pack, while the tool can be the item you keep or return depending on your setup.
It may not be enough for stubborn lug nuts. One use on a golf cart could not remove a lug nut, while the M12 Stubby and M18 mid-torque are the commonly recommended choices for that job.
Yaass!! Pickup & abandon will get you ghost banned. The new way is order & ship to your crib. Then drive over to Homey Depot & refund the 1 you dont want.
I'd rather avoid a return if possible because I'm paying with gift card and they're tracking all returns now. Any other method?
The Gen-3 impact wrench seems like the tool for me. Anyone else have experience (good or bad) with this tool?
There was another thread recently where people were bitching up a storm about the 3/8 and saying it was useless vs. the 1/2". Not sure if that was a gen-2 or gen-3 though.
What's the current method for hacking without returning? Isn't it now frowned upon to set it for store pickup and let it expire?
I just pick up at different stores and never pick up one of them. When they call just tell them to refund it. I just want the battery set for 88 bucks.

I picked up the 3/8 today as I thought that I had read before that I could use it for removing lug nuts off my cars. I tried to use it tonight on my golf cart and it couldn't even remove the lug nut off of that. I'll mess around with it more tomorrow but I'm not impressed so far.

The m12 stubby and the m18 mid torque are widely recommended on reddit for this purpose. I think you can do it with the compact one (this deal) if you use impact sockets and pick the right mode (not sure which). That said, I also saw someone say not to use the 3/8" but to get the 1/2" instead because it's better for the sockets.

There are selectable torque/speed settings- put it in neutral and sqeeze the trigger to highlight the mode you want (a small light bar below the trigger but above battery)-- one of them is basically impact, the others are lower torque applications. First time I used it I thought it was a turd because it wasn't busting nuts. But then I found the mode select, moved it to impact, and it does quite well for things within its torque specs.
Anyone have trouble with the payment. I tried two credit cards and it won't go through

I've seen good deals for the 6.0 High outputs lately, including 160 for two of them I believe. I recently got the M18 belt sander with two 6.0 High outputs for 280

Just ordered the jigsaw combo. Gonna be replacing the sidings on a 10x14 shed tomorrow so it'll come in handy. Can never have too many extra batteries.

No. The same deal was seen for $179 two years ago, so $199 is not the lowest price mentioned for this bundle.
