For those you'll probably want ones with the hammer and pliers.

This would likely make a good garage starter if someone would start working on their car/truck/motorcycle.

Good price! I was skeptical this was going to hit $99 this holiday season due to tariffs, but it has. I wonder if this'll be the last year we'll see this deal.
I like the looks of this vs the Kobalt equivalent - way more 6pt vs 12 pt sockets and a couple more wrenches. Plus Kobalt has been aggressively changing suppliers lately for mechanics tools, making their set more of a mystery meat to me. With Husky I have a better sense of what I'm getting (no-frills and lower end, but durable/serviceable).

All of the 3/8 and 1/2 sockets look like they are 12 point. I would buy this if it were all 6 point.

Would this be a decent starter toolset for a house?

yes; "decent starter toolset" is exactly how i would describe this. if you need a kit for random jobs around the house or to change the oil in your car, this is fine.

Would the 94 piece set for $50 be enough for most homeowners or does this have some key pieces that one lacks?

I think something like this would be a lot more useful to the average homeowner: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky.../334457882

"Most" homeowners do not work on their car, which is what the mechanic's tool sets are really aimed at.

Although you could combine the 94 piece set with the 52 piece homeowner's set for more capabilities - I think that would be a great starting point for a lot of people.

Wonder how good/bad the case is on this? I know some are terrible for the drawers staying shut or the stuff actually staying in place.

How worth it is this set? I've been wanting to get some sort of comprehensive tool set to start doing simple maintenance on my cars (oil changes, transmission fluid drain/fills, brake pads, etc). Is the the quality of this set worth it? Or should I spend a little more for the Gearwrench set that is also on sale ($200 from $300)?

For those tasks, you are good with this set. Might also want to buy some spark plug sockets if you want to do those too.

Get a slippery pete for the fluid changes. Makes it easy to refill once you drain.

Anybody have a recommendation for a full socket set without all these BS screwdriver bits?
