I have seen both the Costco and Sam's Club Black Friday/Cyber Monday ads so far, and it seems to me that the "deals" this year, are just what the normal prices of the items would be without the tariffs. Like, the PS5 deals out there are just bringing it down to the price that it was before Sony raised the prices. I also think that making Black Friday the whole month long has really diluted the quality of the sales. There is no need for door busters when everybody shops online.
What the F. What kind of a person reminisces about camping outside a store to score a few items at a discount like some dystopian movie. Nothing fun about an old lady door greeter at Walmart getting crushed to death under the sliding door that the zombie horde pushed through. That was never cool and will never be cool.
Valley Stream, NY had that happen, it why they moved to opening in the evening of thanksgiving, which then went away with covid. Camping for some of us was fun because we spent time with friends, we hung out played games and had a good time.
There were a few good deals last year, but they were very niche. Like $150 off a stand mixer, or really cheap Barbie and Bratz dolls at Walmart. Video game deals have definitely not been that good on Black Friday in a while, and Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo have all had digital store sales recently where some games are up to 95% off, and they will never get that good for Black Friday, unless they give away a $80 game completely for free.
The best video game deal I can recall on last Black Friday is Walmart having Silent Hill 2 Remake for $30 when it had a few months of being released. And it took a while for it to get to that price again.
Snoozefest. Any of you old enough to remember when BF was actually good? Walmart was a the exception and still had deals open to most everyone until recently. I used to shop at Walmart extensively for BF deals, but lame BF deals, minimums for free shipping to get lower priced occasional non BF deals, deals that accrue only to Walmart+ members. I am out. I don't want to join your stupid club. I will continue to do my holiday shopping elsewhere.
To be happy and live with dignity, make sure you have no debts and have enough emergency savings to survive at least few years. Always buy the things you really need.
QFT. The only one I haven't learned yet is to quit wasting hours and hours on SD to only save $3 on something.
What I've been doing in recent years is bookmarking smaller stores I come across throughout the year (mainly hobby related stuff for me) and much of the time that's where the deals are black Friday. There's a place I like to order hats (Finley) and they did a bundle of a few hats and a bag on discount. I buy hobby paints and they will have like a b1g1. I saw some stationary I liked and they had a 50 percent off sale. Just stuff like that.
Do you know the actual model number, because when I searched 98 inch QLED TCL 4KTV, like half a dozen different model numbers come up, which is crazy, because outside of once at Costco, I don't think that I have ever seen that big of a TCL in the wild, and I wouldn't even know what model number to look for. And, I know that a lot of TV companies make a slightly crappier version of their current TV models just for Black Friday, that are either missing features, or they have like an HDMI port removed or something like that.
My guess would be the TCL Q6 (98Q651G); its currently priced at $1498.
