True, but it also depends on TV size, weight, and application. OP's is great for cheaper brand light weight TVs while yours is great for all TVs especially the larger TVs

You want the mount to hit at least 2 studs... even for a cheap 40" TV. OP's mount only hit on one stud. I wouldn't risk my dry wall and safety of my family with that.

Yeah, you definitely need to tread carefully on how they get anchored. I always predrill and use 3" lag screws on installation of either design. My old 65" is mounted one similar to the one you posted, but I have one very similar to the single arm posted here in my daughter's room with a 50" LG for the past 2 years. I'm a builder/woodworker/HVAC tech/painter/electrician/electronics assembler/etc lol. I've done it all. I've also seen plenty of disasters from people that don't understand the mechanics of TV installation, with some cases resulting in $1000s in damages. As with all things, if you're unsure, it's best to leave it to professionals. It may cost more than you want to pay for a proper installation, but when someone pays $3000+ for a TV, it's not remotely worth the chance of your install failing because you wanted to save a few hundred dollars.
