I had this one and it's the same only my plates weren't reversible. We used it mainly for panini sandwiches or would open flat and use as a grill. It worked well and had adjustable temps. My plates weren't reversible as this one is. If you're looking for one of these I was happy with it. I hadn't used it for awhile and ending up shining it up and donating It to our local church thrift store. It's a workhorse and sold right away.

So they're saying it's 50% off but when you do the math from $99 it seems like I don't know 35% off

I had this grill well over 10 years ago and bought it at a much lower price back then. I wonder why the price of this grill has been appreciating over the years?

I have had this exact one for past 8 years. It has been fabulous in making paninis and doing quick roasted veggies like zucchini roundels, or then burger patties and so on. I like how the plates come off for deep cleaning. I find permanently attached ones eww. The surface is fairly large. After using it almost once a week for 8 years the center knob came off, but I'm still making it work by operating the 2 knobs on either side for adjusting temperature etc. Been thinking should I get a new one. Fancied their higher end one, but it costs upwards of $229 and gave up. At this price, I think I'd buy a new one. I don't think mine would last too long beyond the stage it is at.

I've also had this for years and it's been solid, never had a problem. It used to be slick at around $50, so at $65 given inflation it's probably slick-ish.

Well if it's made overseas it has a federal sales tax on it. Try buying a Japanese wallet on eBay, you're flat-out told you going to be charged a duty tax AKA tartiff. You'll be notified by the shipper that you have a duty tax on your item. Japanese websites won't even ship to the US directly I tried.
I purchased a spare Panasonic infrared oven, made in Japan about 8 months ago, $110, as a spare. Our old one just went out about a week ago.
Check the jump in price now.
You're paying Trump's government anywhere from 30 to 100% a federal sales tax. Amazon doesn't have the guts to tell you but eBay does, as do Japanese websites.
The reason your beef is so high is cuz Trump just bumped the tariff up in August to almost doubling the original now it's around 70 something percent tariff. US ranchers just bumped their products up just to undercut you buying the beef from Brazil. And that's why your beef is so high.

Not suitable for grilled pork belly since no path to drain the grease?
