As someone that wanted a hybrid for a while and finally got the chance to get one this year.
I don't need to share much other than just real life numbers.

Replaced a traditional one that worked fine with a hybrid, and keep it in heat pump mode.

We do not even use much hot water, so this difference would be greater for those that do but it cut electric cost basically in half.

Thank you for sharing this. I live in Washington, where it's cold for most of the months. As hybrid water heaters extract heat from the surrounding, will this make any major difference in colder environment?

Yes, it would I'm in Florida. It needs heat. Doesn't have to be hot but if it's freezing outside it won't work very well. Now I just converted to solar, I will have heat in the winter too from the solar inverter.Kind of a self feeding loop

How much does it cost to install a heat pump heater? I already know, just wanted a laugh.

I've had mine almost ten years? (I forget), was on sale, then there was a rebate. Installed it myself (very easy). Have zero complaints. When I did it, all said and done, including condensate pump, piping etc....cost me less than $300 out of pocket. It's a great water heater.

The 50 gallon doesn't go on sale much. Wording of advice get the one without the leak detector and inatall your own, I'd that's a concern.
