Earlier this year it was $200 off $500 at Ace, which is 40% off, but 37% is still a pretty good deal for Packout gear.

Ace usually has a pretty high markup, so even if their % was higher, that doesn't mean it was cheaper.

As a home hobbyist handyman with way too many tools can someone recommend a starter setup combo?

This was only "select" packout items (didn't include rolling drawer toolbox).

The Ace markups were mostly on the smaller compartment packouts, and was especially high with the mugs and tumblers for some reason. But for the most part, their markups were relatively nominal on the larger storage units. I posted a list of price comparisons earlier this year.

It's been a while, if I remember it correctly the Ridgid 2.0 3pc system goes for $150 on sale and the DeWalt Toughsystem 2.0 goes for $180 on sale. Again, it's been awhile so I am not sure if the price went up or not in 2025.

I paid $230 for my 3pc packout set and the low was $175 a few years back

I would take a look at Hyper Tough at Walmart 3pc set for $85

seems like a decent way to get one of the rolling drawers. Not sure how hackable this one is. i did eventually grab a rolling drawer and i am impressed with how good it is. All my heavy tools go in the bottom and it is really easy to use. my packouts i got in on the earlier ace 300 for 500 (3 drawer, crate, tray, vac, debris separator) and someone on marketplace had the rolling drawer and a 3-drawer for 140 + 90 and i snapped it up, that was a wild deal on both of those, glad he gave it to me. I feel like they're worth every penny and should last me till i'm old and gray.

Nothing beats Packouts if you're loading your tools in the truck and taking them to the job site. But it's overkill if you're just using them at home.

Spent $399.85, -$150 discount = $249.85 not the best deal but much better than paying full retail.

What'd you get to have it be that close to the $399 threshold?
