(Offer started 11/19/2024) - I am apparently NOT in the loop! I am not sure if this has been posted, and I do not remember seeing it before. I tried to search to make sure this was not a re-post, but the search terms are rather generic and I could not get a good hit. Fingers crossed this is original !
I recently activated a free month of Amazon Music Unlimited after purchasing an Echo device and discovered it now includes one audiobook per month via Audible. Important: this is a listening benefit, not permanent ownership of the title.

What's Included & When It Started:
- As of November 19, 2024, in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers (Individual or Family plan primary account holder) can listen to one audiobook per month from Audible's catalog. (Amazon official announcement [aboutamazon.com])
- From Amazon's U.S. page:
> "Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers can listen to one audiobook at a time. Each month, you can continue to listen to the same title or select a new one." (Amazon Music Unlimited — Audible Is Now Included (U.S.) [amazon.com])
Important Limitations:
- The audiobook is not permanently owned; access ends when the Music Unlimited subscription is canceled or paused.
> "If the Amazon Music subscription is canceled or paused, access to the audiobooks ends at the billing cycle's conclusion." (The Verge article [theverge.com]) - Only the primary account holder on the plan is eligible to choose the monthly audiobook.
- Choice unlocks based on your subscription renewal date, not the calendar month. From Amazon's page:

TLDR, Libby, Hoopla etc.. do not work on Alexa (PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG! ). Parenting is hard.

I've had an Amazon Music subscription for several months, and the reason I chose Amazon Music over Apple Music, YouTube, and Spotify was for this one Audible book a month loan. I can listen to it on any of my Apple devices. An annual subscription brings the price down a little.
To me, it's a nice perq.
Because this is the only (more or less) AudioBook app that will play natively on an Alexa and not on a mobile phone linked to alexa. We are trying to get our kid to listen to books at night to help them relax, and wanted a few new ones. We have a copy of the Diary of a Wimpy Kids series on MP3 and they have literally listened to that nightly for the past few years!
It is time to move to something else!

Edit: you can play podcasts on Alexa devices but you will most likely have to start the podcast on your phone first as Alexa doesnt always get your request correctly. I just tested a few GenZ Media podcasts on my Echo dot and it pulled it up fine but one podcast wouldn't pull up. it kept trying to play music. maybe look for some podcasts audiodramas thru the Amazon music app and request it from the Alexa device or set output to a specific alexa device.
