The point is, for someone looking to buy a Windows machine in particular, "just buy a Mac" is not good, sensible, or helpful commentary. That is all.

This ThinkPad P16s Gen 4 stands out as a Windows workstation for demanding professional software, with a 16 inch 4K plus OLED touch display, 64GB of DDR5 memory, and a 1TB SSD. The 400 nit anti reflective panel is described as very viewable, and the 86Wh battery helps offset OLED power draw. The ThinkPad build, upgradeable RAM, and keyboard are also praised, along with Lenovo's friendliness for Linux. The main hesitation is price, which feels high for the spec sheet, and the numpad remains a dealbreaker for some. A strong fit for work focused buyers who want Windows flexibility and a premium screen.
The 400-nit OLED with anti-reflective and anti-glare design should stay viewable in brighter environments.
The 86Wh battery can help offset OLED power draw during everyday use.
The ThinkPad line can be a practical choice for running Debian or other Linux setups instead of macOS.
The P16s configuration offers a major jump to 64GB DDR5 and a 1TB SSD compared with much smaller older ThinkPad memory setups.
Specialized professional software that targets Windows-only OSes may break after security patches or Windows updates.
The $1429 price may not feel justified because the specs do not deserve a 1100+ price tag.
OLED brightness may still require careful power and reflection tradeoffs depending on the user's environment and usage.
Lenovo budget-to-mid lines have reportedly shown reliability issues like wireless drop, touchpad problems, and camera failures.

The thing that drove me bonkers with MacOS was the shortcut keys and keyboard layout. Command, Control, and Option? Why, why? Ctrl+click to right click rather than a dedicated button? F5 doesn't refresh the browser? I had to re-think 35 years of using a computer and while yes, much of that is customizable, the minute you switch to your friend's machine, your customizations are gone and you have to remember the standard Mac layout.
All of that is to say - this deal will have appeal for people who don't want to put up with the "think different" part of MacOS. Lenovo plays pretty well with Linux and I'd suggest going that route if you don't want Windows on the machine.
