All the people complaining about it not working probably fall under this category: Note, offer valid for new Costco Members or those whose previous membership has been expired for at least 18+ months.

This is also not the best deal that has been available in the past. That should always be mentioned in the post

Only mildly related, but if you do sign up, go into your Account page and turn off auto-renewal. They'll randomly do events to encourage people to turn on auto-renewal, and you can get free stuff. The last few times I did this, I got 2 pounds of candy, a freezer bag, and a nice big sturdy Costco tote.

Yeah I got hit by this last year. Membership almost up for renewal. Never seen the gift card.

Strongly recommend you stay away.

Oh and Groupon sold my information. I "Christmas treed" what I gave them so I'm 100% sure the calls and emails are their fault.

Interesting! This is my first year of membership, which is expiring in Dec. How do you learn about these renewal promotions? Do they send out emails or is it in-store?
Also FWIW I purchased my membership last year via Groupon on a similar deal and received the coupon about 2 months later via email.

I don't shop at CostCo enough for a full price membership, but if I got a $40 giftcard, making it essentially a $15 membership, I think it would be worth it. At least for a year.

But pointless if I never get the GC from Groupon. Have till December, so will continue to watch this thread and see what people report. Shoot me a message or something if you don't mind, when you get the GC from groupon. Thanks.

Yeah, I did this last year and got the coupon in an email. Wasn't a scam; just took a few weeks to get the coupon.

Membership is $65 now, so it would make it essentially a $25 membership. Meanwhile currently you can just get a Sam's Club membership for an actual $15. No essentially needed.
