My sound profile of choice would be Sony, specifically the XM4s - this one is about 70% there in sound quality - except for bass, it's probably only 50% of the bass of the XM4s. The sound profile is closer to that of the BOSE QCII - maybe 80-85% of Bose QCII
The build quality is actually better than the XM4s in terms of the headband and overall construction as there is more emphasis and detail at the common points of failure on the headbands, and the pads are also tougher (however, my XM4s are 4 years old so it might not be as tough as before)
For $30 this was a good (not great, but cheap) spare headset that I like to use.
Note: I don't like downloading apps, so I had a old spare phone that I downloaded the app to customize the settings (EQ and buttons) and it made the headset much more practical.
My adult son has these, when his sister comes over she steals them. He has had them a year and loves them. Time to buy my daughter a pair. Not sure the comment about quality as they have been on planes and abused and hold up better than the skullcandys and ankers they had in the past.
I have these. The sound is clear, but lacks any dynamic range. It's still better than most headphones around $40. The noise cancelling works well enough. I'm able to mow my lawn and it drowns out the mower enough that the music takes the focus. The head tracking spatial sound thing works really well, but is probably the most pointless thing I've ever tried. I don't know why anyone would use that...despite the fact that it works as it's supposed to. These are however the most comfortable and least fatiguing headphones I've ever worn.
