Dermatologist here. Get Sunguard SPF Detergent that lasts up to 20 washes and makes almost all of your clothes UPF 30. It's essentially Tinasorb in detergent form. Works very well. I suggest that over something like this or if you want to get quality UPF 50 clothing then get Coolibar
That just points to inconsistencies in quality. One of the reviewers like the shirt he bought in early 2024 so he bought another one January 2025 and he said the new shirt was larger and 'a lot thinner.' The reviewer who got the sunburn bought his shirt late 2024. Most of the positive reviews from people who actually wore them out in the sun all day were from pre-2024. It's entirely possible that they used to be thick enough to justify the rating but aren't anymore. Seems like a reasonable thing to imagine happening from a no-name brand shirt company selling $8 shirts on amazon. Not sure how accurate camelcamelcamel is but apparently these shirts used to be $22. Now the fake 'regular price' is $18 after years of inflation and fresh tariffs. Just saying...

Crazy how many fisherman are in here and there are so few fishing-related slick deals.
A lot of people use these to work outside jobs and want sun protection. Especially where sun exposure is risky long-term like California, Arizona, Nevada, etc.

Cotton has a lower rating for blocking UPF. It also isn't the wonder fiber everyone has grown up believing. Hemp is actually the best fiber for UPF, but it's overly expensive .
Get the darker colors if you want better sun protection.
I agree, darknblue blocks the most, then black. I own a few of these types of shirts and sleeves and the white ones seem to work just as well as the dark blue and black ones. The white ones do stay substantially cooler in the sun
Ditto. People that tan often don't get how much of a hassle it is for those who don't. Unless they have a family member or a partner or someone close that burns in the moonlight. But to put it simply, it's like a food allergy, but to the sun. 😁
I feel your pain. Have been getting burnt my whole life. Recently found out I have Lupus. I get burnt in 3min. Skin feels like sizzling bacon in the sunlight. My family is Spanish Irish. So my mother and brother are darker skin and spend all day in the sun and are fine. FML

I live in SoCal and have Lupus. Recently started working these into my wardrobe. Have had a few people ask about them and have started seeing more folks wearing them
