Just an FYI if you have an Xbox One S, X, Series X, or disc PS5, you already have a 4K Blu-ray player.
While both consoles support HDR10, they cannot utilize the enhanced dynamic range and scene-by-scene metadata provided by Dolby Vision, resulting in a less optimal picture quality on compatible displays.
I mean feel free to drop $200 on 7 year old tech that most folks probably have a working alternative for. It was just a friendly reminder 😇
Of course! This deal is definitely not for those ppl cause they're already taking advantage of that. This is more niche; those that care will notice the difference and find it worthwhile as there's a discernible difference in quality.
What's funny is this player was regularly going on sale for 150 years ago, but now the sale price tends to be the 199 price tag. And this player is way better than using the series x, the series x doesnt support dolby vision.

Solid player, but has been out since 2018 and it feels like it. Last firmware update was 2022, but it plays all my movies fine. Apps are very dated.
I own this and it's rated one the best 4k players on the market. And other then you who cares about the apps on a 4k player my tv has plenty of apps on it.
I have 2 of these and they play all my movies just fine. I would hope the price would be a lot lower since I've had these for a while . Solid player!
People don't understand that most manufacturers stop producing 4k players. But now because of streaming apps removing content and rising cost of apps people are buying physical again causing prices of players to stay high.

A little clarification.
HDR10 is static metadata, Dolby Vision(&HDR10+) is dynamic HDR metadata.

Game consoles don't support dynamic HDR on disc.
Sony doesn't support HDR10+ metadata.
Nothing, even in 2025/26, commercial displays still can't take full advantage of even HDR10!
Sound wise nothing either.
The funny irony with all this!
The popular "tech" people like to use on this better quality is "4k" streaming & a fancy "Atmos" soundbar!!!

It's basically the same performance/player minus Dolby Vision.
