I am going to hold off till Walmart clearances these out. Still running two first gen 4ks and one second gen 4K. These things last forever and no ads.
And that's one of the best things about it. No ads. My Hisense Google TV is all about ads, same with my previous Samsung. FireTV? Just forget it. People hate on Apple but at least their business model isn't built on selling your information.

I legit don't know what else they can do with these outside of either making them smaller or turning into a streaming stick. I have a mixture of the 4K ones throughout my house and I'd be damned if I could tell someone which was the "newer" one. Only a fool would continue waiting for a new one of these unless indeed they had zero need for it in the first place! Shoot, even not having an ethernet jack is fine as a normal stable wireless connection is going to pass through everything without hiccups.
AV1 decoding is a big lacking feature that the next model will likely support.

I've been waiting for a deal, but... with the 4th gen coming out soon, I'd rather buy that one, or get a better deal on this one.

I must be the only person that think these are garbage. Paired them with 2 home pods and everything has a delay. The sounds comes on a good 2-3 seconds after I switch to something and there's a delay on the remote. Tried few things to correct it and nothing helped.
Something is wrong with the devices, setup, and/or streaming app(s) in that case -- that's not normal behavior. You may want to try completely disconnecting / hard resetting / reconnecting the devices & same thing with the remote (there should be virtually zero lag or delay with the physical remote).

I run two Homepods (2nd gen) connected to a 4K ATV (3rd gen) and have only had audio delay / syncing issues once or twice ever and those corrected very quickly with a power off/on. If you're getting that big of a delay there is definitely some unexpected behavior somewhere in the setup.

Serious question. For someone who has never owned an Apple device, is not part of the Apple ecosystem and doesn't have Apple TV+, does it make any sense to use this?

Yes assuming you want a quality streaming box that isn't littered with ads.

Why wait for the new one? IMHO, biggest reason is Wi-Fi 7 support which will offer lower latency on the 6GHz band and be ideal for 4K/8K streaming. You will not need Ethernet. LLM support (think ChatGPT) is the next biggest reason and the A17 chip is needed for that. Also, the price point is likely to be $129 or less without Ethernet, so this offer saves you nothing. (You may not have Wi-Fi 7 now, but you will.)

Anyone own ugoos am6b plus device? Wonder how the Apple TV compares to the ugoos am6b plus. According to this list, it is the best device:

It was $99, sold out fast.
Wouldn't we be able to get a price adjustment?
