My concern about these in smoke detectors is that smoke detectors are designed to detect the gradually dropping voltage of disposable batteries and alert when batteries are low. Would these batteries have the same discharge pattern? Or would that not be a concern for hard-wired detectors which can provide dead battery alerts off of line power?

Rechargables don't have a gradual drop off in voltage. it is a cliff. it is good until it's not. i plan on switching rechargable 9v every year
