The P1S Combo is a fast, enclosed Bambu printer that stands out for reliable, low fuss printing and the convenience of AMS multi color support. The combo is praised for reducing manual filament swaps, storing moisture sensitive filament, and handling abrasive materials better when paired with hardened nozzle and extruder upgrades. Pricing chatter centers on Best Buy matching Bambu and possible cashback or gift card stacking, while the AMS setup can be confusing because the original AMS, AMS 2 Pro, buffer, and hub all carry different upgrade costs. Main cautions are privacy concerns, limited support for engineering filaments, and uncertainty around newer P2S pricing and release timing.

  • US shoppers who can use Best Buy's promotions (like US Bank cashback/rewards) because commenters say buying through Best Buy can qualify for a Best Buy cashback offer via US Bank and may also stack with an extra 10% reward.

  • buyers who are comfortable upgrading later to AMS2 Pro because community members say AMS2 Pro is worth upgrading from AMS1 and discuss the upgrade pricing depending on whether you choose the buffer or hub.

  • people who want multi-filament printing but don't want to manually switch spools as often because AMS helps store moisture-sensitive filament and reduces how frequently you have to swap filament yourself.

  • buyers planning to stick with just one AMS setup because commenters say if you don't plan to connect more than one AMS in the future, the buffer is the better add-on choice.

  • people who want easier access to filament tubes for frequent replacements (especially with abrasive filaments) because the P1S combo's filament tube access/replacement is described as a major advantage versus other setups.

  • people who are worried about privacy and don't want to send printing details/data to Bambu because commenters cite privacy concerns and say you have to go through Bambu's services to use the printer.

  • people who plan to print harder/abrasive filaments like carbon fiber or glass-filled without additional hardened parts because commenters warn these harder filaments will eventually destroy the AMS.

  • buyers who want to avoid any tinkering or troubleshooting because one commenter says they've barely needed to fiddle with the P1S but had a "headache" with their Centauri (extruder disassembly, clogging, and fatal errors) and wouldn't recommend that kind of hassle.

  • people who don't care about multi-filament/AMS at all because commenters argue that if you don't care about the AMS, you should just buy the P1S alone instead of the combo.

  • buyers who are considering the P2S specifically for US shipping because commenters report uncertainty around FCC certification and that some Canadian orders were canceled/refunded due to inability to ship to the US.

How does this compare to the $619 deal that is currently on sale at Bambu's website? I honestly can't tell the difference. Best Buy just says "combo" I don't know what that means...

Does it make sense to buy this for 550 + taxes compared to centauri carbon 280 + 30 shipping an no taxes if I don't care about the ams?
If you don't care about the AMS why would you buy the combo? Just buy the P1S for $400. https://us.store.bambulab.com/products/p1s

any of the upgrades worth adding? The hardened steel upgrade or the high output hotend?

Early 2026. Snapmaker U1 is already in production.

Printers like the P1S make A LOT of plastic waste. Printers like the Snapmaker U1 promise to make a lot less waste, though still quite a bit. I don't especially care about being multi-color, but I do care about having supports of different material that easily break off without ruining the main print.

I figure I'll let this new tech mature for a bit.

4-axis and 5-axis would be even better, but that's just in the experimentation phase right now.

If you are going to print any of the abrasive filaments (Anything carbon fiber, Glass, Glow in the dark, Wood, Marble, Metal + some I'm probably missing) you should buy both the hardened nozzle and extruder.

What is the link for the hardened extruder? I don't think ordered that. I did order the hardened nozzles.

Just an FYI, the P2S, a refreshed version of this, is expected to come out soon and is even listed as Coming Soon on Best Buys website.
I believe it will be $750 and potentially coming in time for Christmas.
Leaked price on Best Buy website was $800, and that's highly dependent on tariffs. Also, release is not guaranteed because of said tariffs.

They've already come up with an agreement on the tariffs they just haven't announced it yet. I don't anticipate it changing.

Good to know. This might be what I go with then, but I'm still going to wait until close to black Friday.

Too small. Get the larger H2S, instead. It will actually print real objects.

I would avoid the centauri if you are remotely annoyed at having to fiddle with your printer. I've barely needed to fiddle with the p1s. The centauri has been a headache. I don't know how many times I've taken the extruder apart. It was working fine after elegoo replaced the entire printhead but it started clogging again. Now it's giving me some fatal error during printing where it completely shuts off. I'm someone who doesn't want to spend time messing around with it. Some people don't mind but it's not for me.
I have 100s of hours on my CC and it has been perfect it's the definition of an appliance and after a decade in the hobby and a half dozen printers it's nice to have an appliance.

They're out and have been out for years, some new cheaper models are out but I'd wait at least a year to see how things shake out so picking up something like the p1s combo now for 550 and then using it for a year+ makes more sense to me.
