This model was first sold 3 or 4 years ago with the Ryzen 7 5850u processor. Sometimes I was finding this type of price on ebay when searching early last year (but most of the time around $400 to $550), I almost purchased back then...It probably still holds up well today, so maybe you could get 3 or 4 more years out of it before the hardware begins feeling out of date.

It looks identical to what HP is currently selling in their elite book line, this is a great laptop, this one actually has nicer speakers than the current models, because it has forward facing speakers, the other ones face towards the bottom. The bezels are thin. It's a sharp laptop.

I had this exact laptop until a few months ago, in fact I paid about $220 and it still had a year and a half left on the warranty at the time, it's just called being patient on eBay, this one at least comes with the correct upgrades, by the time you add 32 gigs of RAM And a larger hard drive you're spending closer to $350-$400. cpu passmark score is similar to current generation at 17,000 and gpu around 3000 points. It runs davinci resolve just fine surprisingly. To put this into perspective, the current generation Intel integrated graphics on their core ultra series, scores about half as many points than this, so as an all-in-one unit it's pretty good actually

Does the USB-C with power delivery mean they can also function as charging ports, or is that just for charging external stuff faster? I can never remember.

I have this model from a SD Microcenter center deal about 18 months ago. I charge mine through the USB C port.

The only thing that worries me about this listing is a similar occurrence I've seen and experienced myself with other deals:
  • Today, the deal now mentions a more attractive AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 5850U for a similar price.
  • I once bit a Lenovo deal for a similar refurb laptop including with a 5850U, and when the laptop arrived, it had instead a 5650U (6core); but more memory, bigger ssd, touchscreen, etc. (compensating?).
  • Seller was the official Lenovo ebay channel/profile.
  • They never replied to emails or claims for this particular listing.
  • Reading other user's comments, I'm fairly certain the 5850U (8core) version was never really available; it had always been the same 5650U batch, they just flushed completely by listing different specs, then lower price, etc, until they were all gone, with specs close enough to be able to claim listing typo (5850 vs 5650) or some simple inventory mistake, etc.
Hope this is not the case, just beware folks!

How is the screen ? I hesitate at 250 nits, 45% NTSC. Mostly I do not like a screen where the whites are blueish.

Can't decide between the Prycedin 16GB Ryzen 7 5850u or the Newegg 32GB Ryzen 5 5650u. Not planning to game or run any memory heavy apps, but you never know. Both are about the same price. The Newegg Ryzen 5 is confirmed keyboard backlit (important to me) and is supposed to be 'excellent' condition. How much should I value the extra ram vs a newer cpu?

I got the 32GB ram version about two months ago and it's a solid laptop for sure. Don't regret my purchase at all.

The USB-C are thunderbolt, both USB-C ports can be used to charge the laptop itself. I am unsure if it they can charge other devices connected to it.

Yes, with anti-glare. It's a decent screen. Nothing to write home about.
