The partial foam tips combined with the deeper insertion in the ear take ANC to a different level.
I walk on the sidewalk a lot, and cars can fly directly by me a foot or two away and they're barely audible, where the Pro 2's still have a lot of audio that makes the cars more bothersome...
Both can make cars almost inaudible a couple lanes across the street, but Pro 3 for close sounds hands down
Also: the Apple cleaning guide using a small brush and micellar water works incredibly well. My Pro 2 transparency mode was so bad it almost sounded like noise cancelling, and after the micellar water cleaning they were basically brand new and I could barely tell I was wearing AirPods with transparency mode. Great way to refresh ANC/Transparency on your older AirPods!
Community Reviews
AirPods Pro 2 with AppleCare plus stands out as a strong value for buyers who want Apple earbuds with warranty coverage and solid everyday noise canceling. The deal is especially appealing for people who do not already own AirPods Pro, and the USB C version has been seen at lower prices before. The main draw is that Pro 3 only feels like a modest step up for some, while others still prefer Pro 2 for balance and comfort. Stock checks can be unreliable, and some in store units may be returns or display pieces, so the deal works best if you can verify condition before leaving.

Not too happy about it. What I expected: better ANC.
Maybe the sound is a little better, but not worth the cost -like at all for the APP3
The noise canceling is way better on APP3 than any other noise canceling headphones on the market. Certainly better than APP2. Comfort is also way better too. I had to adjust to both APP1 and especially 2 rubbing my tragus raw, and used them both for limited periods until my skin toughened. Not so with these, which is interesting given the HR sensor has to be against the ear's skin. I'm not saying it's not happening to you, as comfort is very subjective. But I'd bet if Reddit's search function worked better you'd find posts from the earlier model launches saying the same thing.
The chip is the only thing that didn't change, and there's obviously no need for it to change given what they achieved with the old hardware. The airflow geometry was completely redesigned, the mics used for NC were upgraded, and the algorithms were retrained on all of that. If you care about NC at all (or the health of your ears) you'd see this is a huge upgrade.
Your focus on hardware makes me think you'd be better served in the Android camp. Apple isn't about the highest end hardware. It's about providing the best experience.
Ive owned every generation of iPhone, nearly every meaningful generation of iPad, and every generation of AirPods Max.
The APP3 is a half baked product using a 4 year old chip that boasts its improvement in ANC due to the foam tips
It's not even about the price, they are a clear downgrade from the APP2 from a vast majority of long time AirPods Pro users.
I have multiple headphones over 1k with just the DAC/AMP set ups over another 1k - the new tuning was so horrendous they reverted back to a tuning shape closer to the APP2 in the most recent upgrade based on audio charts.
Sometimes if you don't know what you are talking about it's best to stay in your lane and stay quiet that way you wont be confusing those who aren't as well versed in tech as others or embarrassing yourself
from entering the zipcode in the product page? is it accurate when I do this?

It's pretty much a lock for me that V2's are better at ANC. It's okay though, the features and
integration with Apple gear is clutch.

At first I hated the fit on the APP3 but I think I just needed time to adjust or for the foam tips to adjust. It's not as bad now.
and I like the deeper bass.
But overall I can't tell if I'm wasting my money since the APP2 still work just fine. I'd say the biggest difference I notice is the 3 has better ANC and bass / slightly different sound profile that sounds a bit… sharper at times, maybe? At least for the highs? But I'm not audiophile.
My concern is that the audio cancelation is almost TOO good. With APP2, I could still hear things with adaptive mode enabled. On APP3, even with adaptive on, it almost seems dangerous with its ability to cancel out noise; I can't hear myself as well as I used to (like the sound of walking outside, or even when I begin to talk). I was walking my dog yesterday with adaptive turned on and could barely hear nearby traffic and when I spoke to my dog I couldn't hear my voice as clearly as I can with APP2.
I'm truly conflicted on what to do because the ANC mode is definitely nice when it's safe to use (I can imagine on airplanes it'll block out much more noise for example) but I feel like in some ways I do kinda prefer the APP2 in terms of the balance it had…
What would you guys do? Should I keep them or return the APP3 and stick to the APP2? My only concern with keeping the APP2 is that the battery will start to drain faster and now that I've gotten used to the fit of the APP3 (which I did also get on sale) it might be weird switching back to them
- USB-C
- 2x ANC
- Improved battery life
- U1 - Enhanced findmy
- Conversation awareness
Why I'm not getting AAP3, complaints of noise when not listening to music and 'bloodgate'. Was considering them just for the superior ANC but looks like there were a lot of complaints about fit for some.Join The Conversation
