This Costco Legion is a strong CPU first gaming laptop with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, 32GB of RAM, and an IPS 16 inch 240Hz display that avoids OLED burn in concerns. The RTX 5060 is enough for most games and light gaming at native resolution, while the 1TB SSD has a second NVMe slot for expansion. The tradeoff is that the GPU is capped lower than stock Lenovo versions, and the 8GB card can struggle at 1440p or 1600p in newer games. Battery life, speakers, and Wi Fi reliability have also drawn complaints, making it a better fit for performance and productivity than portability.

  • The laptop can handle coding and research workloads smoothly with no hiccups reported.

  • The 32GB RAM configuration can avoid an extra memory purchase for upgrades.

  • The IPS display choice can reduce OLED glare and burn-in concerns for productivity use.

  • The second NVMe slot can support additional storage expansion beyond the included 1TB SSD.

  • Battery life can be around two to three hours under heavier usage.

  • Wi-Fi performance can be inconsistent, including large latency spikes or slower speeds after testing.

  • The RTX 5060 8GB can hit limitations when moving from 1080p to 1440p.

  • Some software features can fail to work properly, including Windows Phone Link and Outlook despite updates.

Bought one, had lots of issues with the mediatek wifi 7 card and huge spikes (5000+ ms) unlike anything on my old wifi 5 card. Returned and got a new one, still not nearly as consistent. I think it may be that intel makes better wifi cards, but I'm not sure. Anyone else had this happen?
I've been considering getting that laptop, been very on the fence. But I googled a bit and found some people mentioning driver updates for the wifi, have you tried that?

how is deal compared to the bh deal https://slickdeals.net/f/18890419-lenovo-legion-5i-15-1-qhd-165hz-oled-intel-ultra-7-255hx-rtx-5060-32gb-ddr5-1tb-ssd-1099-99?sort=oldest&page=3&src=category_page&p=180736222&comment=success#post180736222?

bh return policy is not good if you don't like the device have to pay shipping fee and restocking fee. costco return policy is great and plus 2 years warranty

The big issue with this costco one is that it is not an OLED screen, which people are claiming is MUCH better than the alternative.

Costco is still the best, Lenovo deals seem to suck for the Legions this weekends. They had better deals BEFORE the BF.
As for IPS vs OLED, its all up to the individual buyer. For me, blacks are richer in OLED, naturally but the you have reflections galore on OLED
So far so good with my Linux Mint 22.2 on the Costco Legion 5i. Only downside is the sound on Linux, since it loses all the "enhancements" that use to come with the Lenovo/Microsoft, its a downer but solved with some Creative Pods šŸ‘
Hope this helps

Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of the power led light? Very annoying and I can't find a way to turn this off.

I am returning my unit. After running several wifi speed tests, it is 10% to 15% slower than my old laptop. I updated the driver, and network adapter settings in Device Manager, it still did not make much of a difference. Good thing Costco has a 90 Day return policy.

For those who bought this, how is battery life for browsing/watching videos/maybe viewing CAD files?

There is a newish review on Costco for this laptop, and a guy solved his wifi problems by disabling Lenovo "network boost".

I bought one today but will be returning it tomorrow.

I couldn't get Windows phone link nor Outlook to work properly on it. Both of which work perfectly fine on my 3 other Win 11 laptops. Ran every update, and spent a couple hours trying various solutions I found online, no go. I don't know if it's a Microsoft issue or something conflicting with the Lenovo setup. It's annoying enough that it's not worth keeping for me.

I had no issues with wifi, the internet speed tests ran just as fast as my other laptops. Network boost was turned off by default (which some think contributed to the wifi issues some were having) so maybe that's why it worked well.

It seems pretty fast but the fan noise during a game I tried (BeamNG drive) seemed a little much -- this is my first foray into gaming with a laptop, so maybe that's just how it is.

Correction to my post - the Costco does have the Pro internal coolings, was able to compare my laptop internal to an open PRO 5 and the fans/pipeworks is similar visually. Somehow, Lenovo/Costco decided the thermal throttle the 5060 in this model. Like I said, still a good buy unless you need that 10-15% performance improvement
what Timespy does it get?

I ask bc I have a 7745hx 4060 16 1tb for 500. But thinking about selling and buying the Costco. I saw a timespy post showing like 13-14k timespy from it.

Think worth double price I paid for the 5 pro 4060? My laptop has 300 nits is why I'm considering upgrading

Could you do me a huge favor and check what the actual watts draw is for the GPU? | believe this can be found in the NVIDIA Control Panel > Help > System Information > under details section on the right >
"Maximum Graphics Power"
Trying to see if it is similar to the non Costco 15" display power draw.

Itl say 105 or 115 watts

You're completely right, and I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion about this. This Costco Lenovo "Legion 5i" looks like a custom blend of Legion 5i and Legion Pro 5i. These details about the Costco one are more consistent with the Legion Pro 5i: 16" IPS 240hz screen (which appears to only be on the ones with Intel Core i7-14650HX processors), full vents in the back (so power and HDMI connections on the left), as as you said, the Costco one has size and weight of 14.35" L x 10.55"W x 0.85-1.02"H; 5.4 lbs. The Legion 5i has listed size and weight of 0.78″-0.84″ x 13.58″ x 10.05″; ~1.9kg / ~4.1lbs. The Legion Pro 5i has listed size and weight of 0.85" - 1.01" x 14.34" x 10.55"; 2.52kg/5.56lbs. A notable difference is that the Costco RTX 5060 is at 105 watts rather than 115 watts.

There's no configuration at Lenovo for either Legion 5i or Legion Pro 5i that I can find where someone can get a 16" IPS 240hz screen with Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX. Has anyone seen the inside of one of these Costco ones to see whether the external materials and internals are closer to the Legion 5i or Legion Pro 5i?
