This is one time of where the regular price seems wrong in that it's too low. I don't need 12 cans but under a buck a can is a great price for ANY Progresso soup. My guess is this was an error and should be for the four or six pack.

My local Safeway had a Buy 2 get 4 free sale on Progresso so something seems to be going.

I don't think so. I've regularly been getting the 4 packs of this same Clam Chowder (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09XWFKM4D) for 70 cents each on Subscribe & Save. In fact I have 3 x 4 packs coming for $8.42. Here's a tip - don't cancel subscriptions on a product like this (use skip) because it may be hard to subscribe again. For a new customer to get that same subscription, you must subscribe when it's available and it has shown unavailable for a few weeks now. Yet my S&S for Nov 4th shows it snuck in my order at that price even though I've never actually seen it available for purchase. Sometimes the order may not come on my S&S date, but it comes within a week and importantly for that locked in price.

S&S price is locked in? I always thought it's the new price at the time of shipment

Just an FYI if you have an Amazon Fresh near you, all of the Progresso soups are $0.78 per can!

What I mean is once it becomes an order (a week before shipment), the price is locked. On mine, I moved up a future S&S to my coming delivery in 6 days. It had no price at that moment. Overnight it created an order with the price I paid last time even though I never saw it for purchase. This order may not come at my expected delivery because of high demand, but the price is now locked. If I noticed in the morning the price wasn't what I wanted to pay, I could just click skip.

My theory is this: It seems that subscribe & save subscriptions are fulfilled into orders even before a product becomes in-stock on the shopping page, but I'm just guessing. OR, the minute it becomes in-stock, the backend begins placing orders for coming s&s deliveries and it goes out of stock within minutes.
