The Bosch Blaze 100ft on sale for $39 instead of $50 is a better sale and a better laser.

Bosch is 100ft, this is 65ft
Bosch is accurate within 4/16, this is accurate within 5/16
Bosch has a lot more options on it

Bosch states +/- 1/16, or 4/64. Ryobi states 5/64. Bosch is better by +/- 1/64.

Good call. The Bosch unit is definitely worth the extra $10. Better range, accuracy, and brand. It also looks a little more durable. And it stores the last 30 measurements. This Ryobi unit only stores the last measurement. And the Bosch one let's you toggle between measuring from the back of the device or the front of it.

This one says 5/64 which is just under 1/16. So if the Bosch truly is 4/16 that is worse

The Milwaukee is $34 at Woot. Bosch just seems like they would be better however.

the same as before, pretend you are fishing, until your tape buckles under the weight of your greed.

I never used one of these tools before so I'm curious: do they calculate the distance from where the laser starts (i.e. the front of the unit) or from the back of the unit?
e.g. if I'm measuring the width of a window that's 32" wide & I place the unit on the window sill, does it measure 32" or does it measure a lower number like 28" (assuming the unit itself is 4 inches)?

I don't have this ryobi, but I got a dremel one that was on sale a few years ago. Man, these things are handy. I use mine way more than I thought I would. It's nice not having to worry about a tape measure buckling when you measure something more than 8-10 feet (depending on your tape measure of course).

*edit: to answer the question above, mine includes the length of the unit in the measurement. I didn't realize that at first and thought it was off.

I don't have one but I believe you can switch to measure either way, front or back.

Is everyone just using AI to write responses? lol, most stuff seems correct and believable but there's something wrong in almost every response stating "facts" about products...

8 mins of curiousity & searching shows me that:
  • Ryobi saves ONE measurement, up to 65', 5/64" accuracy (1/64" OVER 1/16"), one button operation, and measures from the back... the thing looks tiny too which could be a positive for some (no measurements shown of actual device), 3 year warranty
  • Bosch 100ft looks like it might store last two measurements, up to 100', 1/16" accuracy (4/64"), 3 buttons (measuring, rounding 1/32"-1/2", and measuring from front/back of device), looks slightly larger but more robust in my opinion, and 1 or 2 year warranty (2 for registering it)

On another note, I never knew I needed one of these. Thanks!!

Not really a sale price. It's $39 on Amazon as the regular price. It drops from there when Amazon puts it on sale.
