I don't think I've ever seen a screw that needed one. American cars haven't used SAE in decades. I know SAE is still common in American construction, but I can't recall ever seeing a hex socket head fastener in use. Maybe HVAC?

I use them for tightening screws and fixtures in the machine shop.
