I wish it had a pull up bar in between.

You could easily strap two rings in there for like $10 of hardware from HD

The fact that the pulleys are mounted up high and are non adjustable make these a one trick pony. As far as gym space goes, there are much better/versatile cable towers but of course not at $100 price point.

Agreed. Add the adjustable height and a cable unit setup like this is highly versatile and justifies the space needed. Making it at a fixed position is far too limiting to justify using that much space, despite the low cost.

Except for the fact that it isn't designed for direct weight application in the middle of the bar. The vertical weight tension is primarily put on the uprights of the frame with the horizontal bar designed to keep the two uprights from crashing to the middle. The structural requirements for holding to points of force (with vertical weight movement) at a fixed distance apart doesn't mean that it would automatically be safe to apply pressure in the middle of the beam. A good rule of thumb with exercise equipment; just because it MIGHT work doesn't mean that it is DESIGNED to work like that and shouldn't be counted on to be a safe option.

The picture looks like you can mount your handles at the bottom too right? You can't slide the whole handle down the vertical support like a commercial gym but could do upper and lower.

You can do pull downs on just one side.

Fair, but it does appear to have pulley hooks at the bottom too.
