Near lowest price ever sold and shipped by Amazon, in the cool Sapphire Blue color, arguably the best price/performance Surface Laptop 13.8" out there. 10-core snapdragon CPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD.

Note Microsoft just rolled out the AVX/AVX2 update for the x86-64 emulator, meaning this ARM64 laptop can run more games and applications than ever before!

Some research I did for those interested:
 • The 10-core Snapdragon Plus CPU has little real world performance difference vs the 12-core Snapdragon X Elite. They both use the same GPU, and the extra 2 cores isn't significantly noticeable as the 12-core one throttles more. On the other hand, the 8-core Snapdragon in the Surface 13 model is much slower than this one as the GPU is half as powerful. Qualcomm has announced the Elite X2 which will be available in Q1 2026 next-gen surface, but likely at $300 more than this price for similar featureset.
 • The application compatibility and performance has drastically improved since launch a year ago, especially with the introduction of AVX/AVX2 extensions
 • SSD is upgradable but requires removal of the back cover with a Torx screwdriver. Note there is no SDXC slot in this model, but it has 1x USB A and 2x USB-C - plus a dedicated charging/dock port
 • The LCD screen Microsoft used for this model is excellent in fidelity and accuracy
 • Lowest price ever on Amazon, that blue color is hard to beat also!

Good find, OP! Also worth pointing out that Amazon Resale has a "Used - Acceptable" for $100 less.

Not a good price, nor deal, for a weak processor.
Nothing against Snapdragon nor it's processor but we've had the X Elite variant of this for around $899 in the past multiple times. I know surface laptops offer impeccable build quality, battery life, keyboard, and speakers, but X plus devices should strictly be sub-$700.

Not true. The 10-core Plus is barely any different than the X elite. The GPU benchmarks vs the Surface Laptop X Elite are identical. The X elite can have a more powerful GPU, but the Surface Laptop 7 X Elite CPU model is the lower X Elite model with the same 3.8 TFLOPS GPU as the X Plus - SKU X1E-80-100. Then, the two cores make little difference as the 12-core throttles more rapidly. The plus also uses less battery life, too:

"These results are with the "plus" only? Nice."
"So the 2 extra cores on the Elite don't add much real world performance. That Plus model looks like a great bargain."

You are probably thinking of the 8-core Snapdragon Plus, that is the one that is "weak" as the GPU is half as powerful (1.7 TFLOPS). And that's not the CPU in this model.

This is the lowest price ever for this model in the Sapphire color on Amazon, look it up. And, per CamelCamelCamel, the lowest price for the X Elite Sapphire version of this over the past year sold and shipped by Amazon was $1019 - not $899.
Yeah maybe the boring silver version of the X elite was cheaper than 1019, but not the cool blue color in new condition sold and shipped by Amazon.

Incorrect, also Amazon is not the only store to buy things from. I did look it up, and the elite model with double the storage was available for $899, just 2 months ago: https://slickdeals.net/f/18561556-microsoft-surface-13-8-laptop-copilot-pc-7th-edition-platinum-elite-cpu-1tb-ssd-899-at-b-h-photo?v=1&src=SiteSearch
This very model was available for $100 less back in June: https://slickdeals.net/f/18360088-13-microsoft-surface-pro-copilot-pc-snapdragon-x-plus-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-749-free-shipping?v=1&src=SiteSearch
And more importantly, the elite model was $750 at MC in the same month, and while I know not everyone has access to the store, many were able to make BB price match it: https://slickdeals.net/f/18450544-microsoft-surface-laptop-7-13-8-3-2-ips-120hz-touch-snapdragon-x1e-80-100-16gb-lpddr5-512gb-ssd-749-99?v=1&src=SiteSearch
All of these are with the 10-core Plus processor, or the Elite.
This is what I found out just by looking it up till June of this year.

Considering this has been cheaper in the past and the elite model with double the storage for just $50 more, I stick to my point that this is not a good deal. These should be getting cheaper, not more expensive, considering this year's model is already out.

Wrong again my friend

Your first link is the boring silver color, not the highly desirable sapphire blue color that this model is.
Your second link is not even the surface laptop but the surface pro
Your third link is the boring silver color again.
You might want to research these things before you post them. The cheapest the sapphire blue model has been at amazon with the X elite is $1019 over the past year, not $899, and you have not posted an X elite sapphire blue model in any of your links.

Ah, so let's pay wayy more, compromising the specs-price ratio, just to get a more subjectively attractive sapphire color. Got it! 👍🏽

You can buy an HP laptop for $400 if you don't care about looks, I think you are in the wrong thread.

As I noted earlier and proved, the X Elite CPU that Microsoft chose (which is not the top model X Elite) makes minimal real world difference vs the X Plus 10-core, so there is no real compromise. The iGPU is the exact same GPU, and while it has 2 more CPU cores it throttles more and often down to the same speed as the X Plus. If you want more space you can buy a 2TB m.2230 SSD for $149, that will be faster than the one in the 1tb microsoft configuration and has double the space.

I see both sides to this argument. Dr. W is a legend of laptop deals, so I nod in respect. But, I also appreciate the education about plus vs elite. And, if someone wants to pay a premium for the color, so be it. (not me, however)

I think both of you have added some information to evaluate the deal and wanted to broker some peace and say thanks

Thank you, I nod in respect back at you for the mature and sensible reply.
The plus vs elite comparison was indeed helpful by this user.

This was basically my point, it is the Sapphire Blue color, and in the Surface world this is the specific color everyone wants. It has never been this cheap in the 13.8" 10-core. And the 10-core Plus is truly not a downgrade from the X elite, because of the identical GPU to the X Elite in the Surface 7, and also the fact it runs cooler and doesn't throttle as much as the X elite.

AND, on top of that, the X Plus 10-core requires less battery since it has 2 less cores, so Microsoft was able to put in a 10wh smaller battery with the same runtime as the X Elite - and the result of doing this means the X Plus 10-core Surface laptops also weigh about 5% lighter than the X Elite 12-core ones.

So, most desirable color, cheapest price ever, CPU that runs cooler and more efficiently with no real world performance differences, and 5% lighter. Also sold by a reliable retailer with amazing return policy instead of some rando 3rd party seller. Sounds like a W to me.

Yeah, that's why I appreciated the post. I always thought the plus was inferior, and, while it might be (a little), it would be fine for the work I do.
We are due free upgrades on our phones and my daughter (who does freelance photography) would rather have the inferior cameras on the iPhone 17 because she wants lavender instead of the limited colors of the Pro. So, while I side with Dr. W - who cares, others may feel different.
Either way, I think I am passing. I thought you could use the Surface Pen with the laptop but I guess that went away with this model.

The one thing to watch out for is the Snapdragon X Plus 8-core in the Surface Laptop 13". While that sounds similar to this, its totally different. That one the GPU performance is less than half of the 10-core and 12-core.
also... sure you aren't tempted by that sexy blue?: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iJsaf7LVsac
