I tried amazon basics brand and I had no idea wooden hangers could be made so poorly! They seriously needed a light sanding over the superficial 1 coat of poly/finish. I've never seen wooden hangers so low quality.

Can anyone compare these to amazon basics (terrible) or ikea (good) perhaps?

First part is for sure.

As far as the velvet hangers the wood ones are fundamentally different - thicker and likely never bend. Thin hangers can and will ruin some shirts.

I've ordered these Granny Hangers in the past and they were kid sized compared to all previous wooden hangers I've ordered from different brands off of Amazon in the past. They were several inches shorter than others. I ended up returning them regardless of the savings.

Very close to a standard size hanger. 17"W x 8.25"H

Ok. I'm just telling you my experience. I have about 500 wooden hangers in my house from different brands. They all look almost identical. The ones from Grannys showed up several inches shorter and looked like kids hangers in comparison. They are the only ones I've ever returned.

I have crappy hangars from Ross that I am trying to replace. I just measured them, and they are 17 ½" wide (17 on these), and 8 ⅞" tall, including hook (8 ¼" on these." Width on mine are .5", vs .4" on the amazon ones.
What does all this mean? I have no idea. But, them's the measurements.
