Why? The RAID portion is handled on the array side, USB is only for file access.

This seems too good to be true. How reliable is this thing? Does it support all OS? Or its HW configured and over USB just looks like several or single logical disk? So many questions...

"So many questions..." ... that could be answered by looking at the product page.

I'm currently using a computer as a file server for all my media. This device will allow me to connect all my media directly to a HTPC. This should be way smaller, faster, and more energy efficient than having a dedicated PC that's on at all times.
FYI: A 50GB 4k disc with a 2 hr movie can require at most 7 MBps. This thing does 235 MBps which is about 30x faster than I need for my worst case scenario.

not too good to be true, lots of options for these out there. I have 5 of them by probox, they ranged from $89 to 4119 on sale. The other options are ridiculously expensive for absolutely no reason other than people think they have to spend a thousand bucks on a NAS.

It's just a hard drive caddy with a dedicated power supply and a fan. No way is it a "hard drive killer" any more than any other external hard drive, most of which have zero cooling and undersized power supply's.

The worst Amazon reviews say that it wouldn't turn on or connect to a hard drive, nothing about damaging hard drives. Can you please provide a link to the reviews you're talking about? Thanks!

The manual says it can be configured over USB using their software: https://www.orico.cc/storage/atta...08d94d.pdf The software runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. It can show up as a single logical disk, or as multiple disks (aka JBOD) if you don't use the RAID feature.

I ordered it ground without prime, and it arrived within 24 hrs. Amazon usually waits a week to ship packages, then ships them next day.
I popped in a backup drive and set it to JBOD/normal/clear with the toggle switches. It ran a backup at 120MB/s, about what it was doing in an external case. I don't believe the Orico was the limiting factor. Aside from the hard drive noise, which is identical, it is way quieter than the computer I'm replacing with this. To contradict one of the bad reviews, it is most definitely a cold metal case, not plastic.
