I would personally recommend to everyone to stay away from Razer for the moment. Synapse 3, the software they used to use for their peripherals has been replaced with Synapse 4, which has a very high number of users reporting major problems. Synapse 3 is reaching end of life in 2 months, leaving you forced to use Synapse 4 or simply put up with the mouse as a would-be normal mouse without any of the expected features.
I say would-be because if you don't have any Synapse software, the mouse will periodically force a pop-up on your system prompting you to download and install Synapse 4. It's intrusive and extremely frustrating.
Stay away.

I have this from 3 years, without problems. I did not install any Razor software. It also has mini version, ideal for small hands.

Bought this I think in 2020, partway through the pandemic. It lasted less than two years, so that was disappointing. If I remember, it was having trouble registering clicks. That being said, it was probably the favorite mouse I've had, and at $17, I am tempted to get another.

I just had to throw one of these away. They're great mice while they work, but the wheel can get dirty and starts to read-out weird (skipping all over the place), and there's no obvious way to clean it. But we definitely got our money's worth from it ...

I would step up from this basic model just due to the annoying loud clicking buttons. I like soft and quiet clicks.

BTW, thanks for reminding me to remove Razer software. The mouse is long gone but the software stayed and autoloads each time.

Are there other brands that use a light-based switch? Every other gaming mouse i've used ends up with the doubleclicking issue despite looking pristine due to using a low quality switch whereas my deathadder pro is getting major physical wear problems with zero electronics issues.

I'm using the Deathadder Expert as we speak...I've been using it for 3-4 years without any problems. Not sure what the difference is between the two but I like the shape of the mouse.

Look for the column "switch type"and sort it in descending order to put all models with optical switches up top.

I have three razer mouses, and the scroll wheel has failed on every one of them. I googled how to fix it, and found tons of others with the same issues. None of their suggested fixes helped me.

I know this is only $17, but you can get a decent Logitech for that price. Which is what I did.

Also, Razer's software is terrible. It's worth getting something else just to not run it.

This is probably one of the few Razer products made to last. Mine has been working for 4 years, no issues. Do not install Razer software, it's useless.

I can confirm the same thing, I'm getting only 2-3 years from any/all razer mice.

Dang I just got the black widow v4 and was looking to get a mouse to pair with it. Didnt install any software though. Will just use something like openRGB for the lights and use no macros for now I guess?
