Sweetwater also has it.

"Purchase this item at Sweetwater, and get $300.00 off! The price shown reflects your savings. Effective now through 1/7/2026."

Guessing this may be holiday pricing. So anybody looking, don't feel rushed and impulse buy. Do your research first.

This is a great set up for making music. I made several albums with just 2 microphones recording each instrument at a time with an interface that had insane lag.

At this point gear doesn't really matter. Everything is good enough since manufacturing has gotten so good.

What matters is skill and practice.

If i was 16 again and thinking about making music I'd get this. a mic, 2 inputs and good enough headphones for $100? and from a company with a history and not some amazon brand like RETHNSUYSLHLKAJSHLAKGHSRKLJH? easy yes.

My only question would be is if there are any weird latency issues but I doubt it. Everything uses the same chips and I would bet a finger whatever chips are inside this are inside every other focusrite interface because that's the rules of economy of scale

Does that mean this isn't a good setup?

It's a great setup. Just may not be what everyone needs. Like for instance someone interesting in doing music should look for something better geared for that.

Would this sound better than M-audio solo? Really I'll probably need a Scarlett as I want to record guitar as well (though I don't need to record vocals and guitar at the same time)

You won't beat this setup for $100.
Unless you only need one mic input and go with the focusrite vocaster one studio for $50, which is an insane value imo.

Is this truly everything one would need to do a podcast? I mean I assume you'd need a computer too, but would you also need any special software ($$) or hardware to get started?

That's like asking why can't I drag race with my Kia Soul?
